Among the world's top 50 steel companies, enterprises from China account for more than half of the share.
html On June 7, World Steel Association released "World Steel Statistics 2022", with a total of 28 Chinese steel companies shortlisted for the top 50 list.Among them, China Baowu Steel Group (hereinafter referred to as China Baowu ) ranked first in the world with a crude steel output of 120 million tons. Luxembourg steel company ArcelorMittal ranked second with a production of 79 million tons, while China Ansteel Group ranked second with a production of 56 million tons.
In addition, China's Shagang Group, Hegang Group , Jianlong Group and Shougang Group also entered the top ten of the list. , Shandong Steel , which entered the top ten list in 2021, retreated to eleventh.
With the implementation of mergers and reorganizations of many leading enterprises, the concentration of China's steel industry has continued to increase in recent years.
In 2016, Baosteel Group and Wuhan Iron and Steel Group merged into China Baowu. Since then, China Baowu has successively reorganized many large steel companies such as Ma Steel Group, Taigang Group and Chongqing Steel . In 2020, China's Baowu crude steel production capacity exceeded 100 million tons, surpassing ArcelorMittal for the first time, becoming the world's number one.
In August last year, Ansteel Group and Bensteel Group were reorganized. After the merger of the two, Ansteel Group's scale was second only to China Baowu in China. In the 2020 World Steel Company List, Ansteel Group ranked seventh, while Bensteel Group ranked seventh.
China is the world's largest steel producer and consumer. According to data from the World Steel Association, China's crude steel production last year was 1.033 billion tons, accounting for 52.9% of the global total; China's apparent steel consumption was 952 million tons, accounting for 51.9% of the global total consumption.
At the same time, China is also a major steel exporter in the world. Last year, China ranked first in the world with 38 million tons of steel net exports.
According to the World Steel Association, global steel demand will grow by 0.4% this year to 1.84 billion tons. Next year, global steel demand will continue to grow by 2.2% to 1.88 billion tons.
The association previously stated that China's stimulus measures for infrastructure construction projects this year are expected to have a positive impact on steel demand, and China's steel demand is expected to remain stable this year at 952 million tons. In 2023, China's steel demand may increase slightly by 1% to 962 million tons.
