"The red plum blossoms are blooming, and the flowers are shining... Awakening the flowers are blooming together, singing and celebrating the coming of the New Year!" Whenever the familiar melody of " Red Plum Praise " sounds, people can't help but think of the protagonist Jiang Zhuyun (Jiang Jie).

For the cause of liberation of the Chinese people, Jiang Zhuyun suffered torture and sacrificed her young life. In the suicide note she left before her death, she expressed her ardent expectations for her son Peng Yun , hoping that he could follow his parents' footsteps, continue to fight for the cause of communism, and fulfill his wish to build a new China.

Nowadays, New China has been established for more than 70 years. Peng Yun lives in the United States, but his grandson Peng Zhuangzhuang After graduating from Harvard, he resolutely returned to China to serve and became the successor of his grandmother.

What did their family go through? What was Peng Zhuangzhuang's situation after returning to China? Let’s learn about the story of Peng Zhuangzhuang, a revolutionary descendant.

1948, her husband Peng Yongwu failed to organize the riot and unfortunately died. Jiang Zhuyun, who has been engaged in revolutionary work for many years, knows that she may be exposed at any time and will be in danger of her life. She entrusted her son Peng Yun in advance to Peng Yongwu's ex-wife Tan Zhenglun (sister youngest).

Soon after, Jiang Zhuyun was arrested for betrayal by a traitor and was detained in Zhazidong Prison in Chongqing. The enemy tortured her severely in order to learn the information of the underground party from her mouth. Jiang Zhuyun suffered tortures such as tiger benches and bamboo sticks, but she was always steadfast and unyielding and did not sell out the secrets of the party and the information of her comrades.

Jiang Zhuyun felt that she was in trouble, and she was worried about her son in her heart. So, he secretly wrote a "Letter to Orphan" in prison and asked a guard to send it to his younger sister's younger brother Tan Zhuan.

In the letter, she once again asked Tan Zhuan to take care of Peng Yun, and hoped that Peng Yun could inherit his parents' revolutionary legacy and strive for the cause of communism to the end. The letter is full of yearning for revolutionary success and deep affection for his son.

On November 14, 1949, on the eve of the liberation of Chongqing, Jiang Zhuyun was killed by a crazy enemy at the execution ground of Geleshan, and was only 29 years old when she died. Tan Zhenglun is worried about the enemy's roots, so he is worried every day and takes Peng Yundong to hide in Tibet. After finally liberation, he waited for the bad news that Jiang Zhuyun had already died heroically.

Tan Zhenglun and Peng Yongwu had a son, Peng Bingzhong, who decided to focus all her energy on raising two children. She treated Peng Yun as her own. In order to take good care of Peng Yun, she quit her job in the office and went to the kindergarten to work as a childcare worker.

After the founding of New China, the organization found them and made thoughtful arrangements for their lives. The lives of Tan Zhenglun’s family are also guaranteed. Tan Zhenglun told Peng Yun about his life experience and encouraged him to study hard and inherit his parents' revolutionary cause.

Under Tan Zhenglun's careful care, Peng Yun grew up healthily. As the child of a martyr, he was treated preferentially by the school and his teachers after he went to school. Peng Yun has set ambitions since he was a child, and must study hard and fulfill his biological mother's instructions. His grades have always been among the best in the class. Tan Zhenglun was very happy to see the certificates that Peng Yun brought back.

With the emergence of the novel " Red Rock " and various stage plays, Jiang Jie's name resounded throughout the country, and Peng Yun received more attention. But he is always low-key and humble, never proud, and does not cause trouble to the country.

In 1965, Peng Yun was admitted to Harbin Military Engineering College with excellent results. When admission notice arrived, Tan Zhenglun took Peng Yun to worship Jiang Jie and her husband, and comforted their spirit in heaven.

It is worth mentioning that Tan Zhenglun’s own son Peng Bingzhong has also achieved success in his studies. Tan Zhenglun worked hard and raised his two children to adulthood, but did not remarry. She is also a kind and great mother.

Peng Yun married his classmate Yi Xiaoye in 1973. Yi Xiaoye's grandfather was Yang Kaihui's uncle. A year later, his son Peng Zhuangzhuang was born.

In 1977, Peng Yun was admitted to the postgraduate student of the Institute of Computer Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Soon, he was the first batch of government-sented students to study in the United States, and later obtained his doctorate degree from the University of Maryland .

The couple worked in the United States since then.

Although he holds US green card , Peng Yun has never changed his nationality. Peng Yun was stranded abroad and did not return to serve in China, which caused a lot of criticism. In response to this question, Peng Yun also believed that he had only completed half of his mother's will and that his contribution to the country was not enough.

He once wanted to contribute his knowledge to the country, but he was hindered by some factors; later the environment improved, but he was old and no longer had ambitions. The regret is beyond words.

However, fortunately, he had a better son - Peng Zhuangzhuang, who replaced him to fulfill Jiang Jie's other half.

After graduating from high school, my father and Peng Zhuangzhuang had a long talk, told him about the glorious deeds of his grandfather and grandmother Jiang Zhuyun, and expressed his regret that he had failed to fulfill his last wish. Peng Zhuangzhuang was deeply moved. He was determined to achieve success in his studies and return to China to complete his father's unfinished career. After graduating from a doctorate, he sought opportunities to return to China to develop. By chance, Peng Zhuangzhuang became a global partner of McKinsey.

Unexpectedly, Peng Zhuangzhuang was like a fish in water after returning to China. He saw the hope of China's rise and was full of confidence in the future.

Peng Zhuangzhuang returned to China to develop, not only achieved success in his career, but also gained sweet love. Speaking of which, his wife Zhongqi and grandmother Jiang Zhuyun really have some connections.

Zhongqi's grandmother He Lili is Jiang Zhuyun's friend and middle school classmate. Grandpa Zhong Qiuyuan and Jiang Zhuyun are both underground party members in Chongqing. He was arrested in Zhazidong before Jiang Zhuyun.

However, because his public identity was the manager of Sanlian Bookstore and his true identity was not exposed, he was successfully bailed by Zhang Lan, chairman of the Democratic League. After liberation, he served as deputy minister of the Ministry of Culture. Therefore, the two families have a deep connection. Peng Zhuangzhuang and Zhongqi met since childhood. Later, when they went to live in the United States, they became increasingly unfamiliar.

In 2001, Peng Zhuangzhuang returned to China to serve and often visited his grandfather and grandmother at Zhongqi's house. The two of them got to know each other and had a good impression of each other. Finally, they got to know each other and fell in love with each other, and entered the marriage hall.

After marriage, the two gave birth to a son and a daughter. Now the son Peng Ran is 10 years old, and his daughter Peng Yi is seven years old. Jiang Zhuyun finally has someone to succeed.

In addition to actively introducing foreign investment in work, Peng Zhuangzhuang has allowed excellent projects to be implemented in China and contributed to the country. He also pays attention to promoting the glorious deeds of older generation revolutionaries such as grandparents, and inherits the " Red Rock Spirit ".

In 2009, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of grandma's sacrifice, Peng Zhuangzhuang returned to his hometown and visited his grandmother's former residence. Here, he learned the details of his grandparents' glorious death. Peng Zhuangzhuang was once again shocked by the deeds of his grandparents, and was also proud to be their grandson.

In front of grandma's grave, Peng Zhuangzhuang assured grandma that his father had not fulfilled his grandson would complete the half of his last wish and strive to build a new China to the end. As the two children grew up, they came into contact with some information about the grandma.

When faced with the child's inquiry, Peng Zhuangzhuang felt that if they only preached from the language, they might not be able to understand it when they lived in a peaceful era. So he took his wife and children to visit grandma's tomb. Let them experience the stories of great grandpa and great grandma up close.

Peng Zhuangzhuang's family

Peng Zhuangzhuang mentioned in the interview that children of Peng Ran and Peng Yi's generation must remember the stories of the older generation of revolutionaries, understand that today's happy life is hard-won, and know how to cherish it, so that they can assume the responsibility of revitalizing their ancestors in the future.

In 2019, Peng Zhuangzhuang took his wife and two children to attend the "House 270th Anniversary of Jiang Zhuyun's Sacrifice Commemorative Conference". In his speech, he mentioned that he resolutely gave up the generous treatment of the United States and returned to the embrace of his motherland. The motivation is to fulfill grandma’s expectations.

Time flies, the martyrs Jiang Zhuyun have left us for more than 70 years. Their generation of revolutionaries have used their lives to create a new China.

Jiang Zhuyun and his wife and son Peng Yun

Jiang Zhuyun martyrs can be relieved that their descendants have not slacked off, showing the responsibility of the descendants of China in the new era.

Times are changing, but the spirit of the martyrs will not be missing, and the red gene will be passed down from generation to generation. The Chinese nation will surely continue to stand among the nations of the world. The martyrs should be able to rest in peace as if they had any knowledge under the spring.
