Huawei released the AI Cube 4G router, which is a rather unique device that combines a 4G modem, a home Wi-Fi router, a high-end 360-degree wireless speaker, as well as Amazon Alexa voice assistant and some of the AI features that are not yet clear about Huawei Amazon combo.
Huawei AI Cube is shaped like a flat-top Google Home, aiming to bring Huawei into the booming smart speaker business. As of today, more consumer electronics brands have launched smart speakers in their portfolio, including Apple's HomePod, Google Home series devices, Amazon Echo speakers, Lenovo smart displays, and most recently Samsung Bixby speakers. Huawei this time leverages its technological leadership in networking equipment while giving its AI Cube a slot for LTE SIM cards, making it a 4G hotspot, and an Ethernet port that allows users to use it as a home Wi-Fi router and Alexa-enabled speaker.
Huawei AI Cube launch date and price is currently undetermined. Huawei said it will announce the release date and price details when the device is close to launch. Europe will get the AI Cube during Christmas, and the US market may or may not get the device. In terms of specifications and size, the AI Cube is 218mm (8.6 inches) in height, and the base and top are 116mm (4.57 inches) in diameter. The speaker weighs 900 grams (2 lbs). It supports LTE Cat.6, has cellular speeds up to 300Mbps, and has 802.11ac with dual-band Wi-Fi. Users will get four microphones with far-field voice recognition capabilities.
