The Kuomintang Central Committee nominated Zhang Shanzheng, former head of Taiwan's administrative agency, to run for the mayor of Taoyuan, dropping a bombshell in the political arena on the island. According to a latest online poll, a question asked, "Do you think Zhang Shanzheng has the chance to win the election of the next Taoyuan mayor?" 47.04% of netizens believe that they have a chance to win, while 45.30% of netizens believe that it is impossible to win, and the opinions of both positive and negative netizens are quite similar.
Taiwan's "NOWnews" began on the 18th to vote online on "Do you think Zhang Shanzheng is the most suitable candidate to represent the Kuomintang in election for the mayor of Taoyuan?" As of 6 pm on the 19th, 40.08% of netizens believed that it was very suitable and he was an outstanding talent; 43.55% believed that it was not suitable and that other people should be recruited to run for the election; 8.36% of netizens said they didn't know/had no objection.
