cloisonne One of the famous special metal crafts in China, this technology production reached its peak during the Jingtai period of the Ming Dynasty, and the crafts produced were the most exquisite and famous, so later generations called this porcelain "cloisonne". Cloisonne is officially named " copper body cloisonné enamel ", commonly known as "enamel blue", also known as "embellished enamel". It is a porcelain utensil made by using soft flat copper wire on the copper body shape, pinching it into various patterns, and then filling the color glaze of enamel in the pattern. Because it was popular during the Jingtai period of the Ming Dynasty, the production skills were relatively mature, and the enamel glaze used was mostly blue, so it was named "cloisonné".
Folk legend, in the early years of the Yuan Dynasty, the palace caught fire, Golden Palace and all the rare treasures burned to ashes. But there was a colorful and crystal-shining treasure vase in the ruins. The ministers were surprised and offered them to the emperor, saying that it was given by God. The emperor couldn't put it down after receiving this thing, so he immediately passed on an imperial edict to mobilize all the skilled craftsmen in the capital to imitate it within three months. Otherwise, he would be beheaded. The imperial edict was a mess, but the craftsmen in the 9981 handicraft workshops in the capital were busy. Everyone was puzzled and could not understand the craftsmanship given by God. In the end, he could only ask for help from the number one craftsman in the capital, "Qidai Li". Legend has it that he was a descendant of Nuwa. Because of his good skills in making craftsmanship, he was praised as "Qidai Li". Soon, "Quality Li" said that Nuwa was wearing a robe and auspicious clouds to express his dreams: "The bottle shines like a flower, and it is all about planting flowers with skillful hands. The white hyacinth flowers cannot bloom, and it is difficult to come without gossip butterflies, and it is not so painful to be flooded by water. How can spring be kept alive?" "Quality Li" learned through this dream. It turned out that the fire in the palace was burning and gold and silver in the Golden Palace were burned together to form this bottle. An imperial edict was also issued, no matter how many treasure vases were made by "Qiaotiangong", they belonged to the palace, because this treasure was burned by a fire in the palace, so people called it "Qibao Burning". Because ordinary people are not qualified to own "Qibao Shao", this art has become a palace art. During the Jingtai period of the Ming Dynasty, the craftsmanship reached its peak. Since most of the products are mainly peacock blue, people call this craft cloisonné. This title has been used to this day.
cloisonné is found in real objects, with the most common periods during the Xuande period of the Ming Dynasty (1426-1435). During this period, the style characteristics of craftsmanship, the cloisonne-Peace Song Baojian has been formed, with exquisite skills and close to the maturity period. Variety include bottles, plates, bowls, stoves, round boxes, incense, etc. Later, appreciation items such as tripods appeared. There are two types of material materials for making tire types: gold and copper. The patterns are mostly banana leaves, gluttons, lions playing balls, passion fruit and Ming lotus. The glaze colors are mostly sky blue (light blue), gem blue (lapis lazuli), light green (grass green), dark green (vegetable jade green), red (chicken blood stone), white (chequ color) and yellow. The large bowl of sprouts from the Xuande period collected in the Forbidden City has full flowers, bright colors and solid glaze. It is a representative work of this period.
Yongzheng's Enamel is relatively mature, has made breakthroughs in technology, and has richer color materials. During the Yongzheng period, there were colored paintings, but more were white painted. White ground painting can better highlight the brightness of the enamel glaze. The enamel patterns of Yongzheng are mostly landscapes, bamboo, stone, flowers and birds, and at the same time, they are accompanied by corresponding poems in the painting, integrating poetry, calligraphy and painting, with a unique flavor and appearing more elegant. During the Yongzheng period, monochrome painting was also popular, such as using rouge, deep orchid, ink color... to choose any color to make a painting, which is quite Chinese painting style. This is original and very beautiful.
Qianlong period inherited the style of Yongzheng, but the branch art is not as rigorous as Yongzheng's time. Because Emperor Qianlong had a special liking for pastel , he was very concerned about and developed the pastel craftsmanship. So the enamel color retreated a little, and a piece of work between pastel and enamel appeared. These transitional products also have a higher artistic level.
Enamel paintings during the Qianlong period mainly include flowers, birds, landscapes, characters and Western women, and are accompanied by poems written by imperial poems. At this time, the rolling process appeared again, and then there were very beautiful landscapes, figures, flowers and bird patterns consecrated by the brocade. This new process is essentially not enamel color, but pastel color, also called "green pastel color".
Chinese cloisonné is an elegant work of enamel art. The national treasure cloisonné is the world's craftsmanship. "One piece of cloisonné, ten pieces of official kiln porcelain". Cloisonné has been unique in the palace for hundreds of years with its brilliant craftsmanship that is superior to gold, warmth, luster, and delicate porcelain.
The complexity of enamel craftsmanship, the difficulty of technology, the treasure of glaze, the high value and the essence of art represent the highest artistic level of China's enamel porcelain . There are very few enamel porcelains in the world, with only more than 400 pieces remaining in the world, of which more than 200 are hidden in the Forbidden City , Taiwan Palace Museum , and Beijing Palace Museum . The late Qing Dynasty scattered out of the palace or were plundered from the Old Summer Palace by the British and French forces. Most of them are fragments, with less than 10 complete pieces, which can be called a treasure of the world and a cultural relic of the country.
cloisonne, "Auction King" that dominates the world's artwork
A cloisonne fragment is often worth millions, and the complete instrument is often tens of millions or even over 100 million. Heads of state and billionaires all regard it as a lifelong glory to see the authentic enamel porcelain! Because the purpose of production is purely for emperors to enjoy, "enamel has no large instruments". The general shape and height of the instrument does not exceed 30 centimeters, but the single auction price of petite enamel porcelain is often over 100 million, which often surpasses the national treasures of all dynasties and becomes the "auction king" that dominates the global porcelain world!
