Netizens denounced this, and the Kuomintang camp also came forward to refute the rumors and immediately removed the post.
The prosecutor and police received a message that night that confirmed that the person who fell from the building was Xu Kunyuan. The police in the jurisdiction, the chief prosecutor Liu Mushan and the prosecutor Zhang Yicong immediately entered Xu Kunyuan's home for inspection. When asked about Xu's wife and daughter who were also at home at that time, they found out that Xu Kunyuan fell from the window of the bedroom when he was alone, he went to the funeral home to check and confirmed that Xu Kunyuan had suffered severe head injury, skull open fracture , and multiple fractures throughout his body.
Taiwan prosecutors initially ruled out external forces. The family also had no objection to the cause of death. They did not arrange a re-examination and issued a temporary death certificate. In 1994, he was elected as a member of the Kaohsiung City Council as an independent, and later became the general convener of the Kaohsiung City Non-party Consultation Alliance.
In 2004, Xu Kunyuan once wanted to form an alliance with the Kuomintang to compete for the "speaker", but was rejected by the Kuomintang senior officials. He then established a cross-party "Great Kaohsiung Political Questioning Alliance" and became a key force in the parliament. In 2008, Xu Kunyuan joined the Kuomintang and was elected as the first Kaohsiung City "Speaker" after the merger of counties and cities.
