Two Sessions, you suggested that games should be prevented from addiction, games should be prevented from overconsumption, etc., how did you pay attention to this issue at that time? Yang Jinlong: I am a teacher in school. Our students are mainly from junior high school after graduating from junior high school. I found that some of my classmates are less energetic that young people should have in their work. In the past, students would chat during ten minutes of break, and some would fight and make a fuss. Although it seemed a bit chaotic, this is what young people should look like. Later, some students took out their mobile phones to play games after class, and didn't spare their spare time for just ten minutes, which shows that they were quite addicted. As you spend more time and energy on mobile games, you will naturally spend less on social, exercise, etc. As a result, it will have adverse effects on students' physical and mental health, which is not possible.
In addition to the situation around me, I also specifically learned about the relevant situation and found that the phenomenon of being addicted to games is quite serious. Some people feel disgusted with learning and even abandon their studies. Some games have very low thresholds, no age restrictions, and are easy to register. Some games require recharge and no related restrictions, which makes it easy for children with poor self-control to become addicted. On the one hand, they waste time and energy, and on the other hand, they may generate high consumption. At that time, some game manufacturers had introduced real-name authentication, age restrictions, etc., but they were not perfect enough. I proposed that I hope to use "face scanning" technology to achieve "real person certification", and to establish an anti-addiction and excessive consumption system based on actual person certification.
talks about feedback:
received reply from multiple departments that year and was highly encouraged to perform duties.
Beijing Youth Daily : After making suggestions, is there any feedback?
Yang Jinlong: It made a suggestion at the Two Sessions in March that year, and received a reply in the second half of the year. My suggestions include preventing minors from becoming addicted to games, etc. From the perspective of power, it involves multiple departments. The National People's Congress transferred the suggestions to relevant departments, including the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, etc. In the second half of the year, these departments sent me paper replies respectively. The reply mentioned that the suggestions I made have been received and researched. Some game platforms have been rectified and prevented addiction. Relevant departments are studying and formulating policies, and some have been included in the plan and will be issued when they are mature.
Beijing Youth Daily: What was the mood when you received these replies?
Yang Jinlong: I feel very happy. As NPC representatives, we usually collect questions and form suggestions in our work and life. We usually reply after submitting them. This is also a normal procedure for performing our duties. However, several departments actively reported the feedback, and they all looked at it with great care and were very practical, which showed that the suggestion was more accurate in grasping this issue, which can be said to be hit the nail on the head and the suggestion was of high quality. As a representative, the suggestions made by
were not sank to the sea, and were echoed by the competent authorities, achieving a healthy linkage between the top and bottom. I felt that something was done, on the one hand, it felt like I had a sense of accomplishment, and on the other hand, it also gave me confidence, which can be said to be very encouraged. I told my colleagues and friends around me about this, and they all felt that it was useful to make suggestions from representatives. As a representative, I am more motivated to perform my duties.
talks about progress:
students are not as addicted as they were in the past few years, and parents also pay more attention to
Beijing Youth Daily: In recent years, the standardized management of games has been continuously carried out. Have you paid attention to the progress?
Yang Jinlong: I have been paying attention and have also noticed that relevant departments have issued regulations. For example, in August 2021, the National Press and Publication Administration of issued the "Notice on Further Strict Management and Effective Prevent Minors from Being addicted to Online Games", proposing to strictly limit the time for providing online game services to minors. All online game companies can only provide 1 hour service to minors from 20:00 to 21:00 on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and statutory holidays. Online game services shall not be provided to minors in any form at any other time; strictly implement the real-name registration and login requirements for online game user accounts, and shall not provide game services to users who have not registered and logged in real name in any form.
Beijing Youth Daily: How to evaluate these measures? As far as you have observed, has this problem improved over the years?
Yang Jinlong: A lot of work has been done in all aspects, and it can be said that there has been significant improvement. The students around me are not as addicted to games as they did in the past few years. Now the school attaches great importance to sports. Many students play ball after class and play various sports. There is less phenomenon of sitting there and playing games, and the vitality of the entire crowd has increased.
I have talked with the students and parents and found another significant change, which is that parents pay more attention to it. Students are in class at school and basically have no time to play games. Some schools may not allow them to bring their mobile phones. They often play games at home. In the past, some parents did not realize this problem, or did not pay enough attention to it, especially for children. Parents threw him a mobile phone to let him play games on his own, and also allowed parents to purify themselves to do other things. This kind of worry-free behavior may also encourage children to be addicted to games. Nowadays, many parents attach great importance to these issues and their educational methods are more appropriate, such as setting rules for their children, setting a limit on the duration of playing games, and having to replace learning for a while when playing games, or doing housework, or doing other meaningful things. These are all very useful guidance. It can be said that on this issue, the guiding and educational role of parents cannot be overemphasized.
talks about suggestions:
Parents should guide their children more attentively. Schools should provide more cultural and sports activities.
Beijing Youth Daily: Some parents "deeply hate" the game industry, believing that games affect children's academic and growth, and some hope to completely ban games. What do you think?
Yang Jinlong: I don’t think it is appropriate to go to extremes. It is difficult to truly achieve the goal of not allowing children to play games at all. Instead, we must make rational use of time and not play games too much. In addition, it is worth noting that games now have social attributes. Some children play games, and maybe even friends play them so that everyone has a common language. Parents cannot shirk their responsibilities. Does some children become addicted to games mean that there is a lack of guidance and education for parents? Why are other children not so addicted? These are all things that need to be considered.
From the perspective of the game itself, the content should be more positive. Some games have cruel or even bloody content. Children may be addicted to the characters, which is not good for physical and mental health. Therefore, strictly control the game development and post-review, and the content should be educational. Game developers should think about whether the content and plot are harmful to society after a game is released and whether it is harmful to children.
Beijing Youth Daily: In addition to the standardized management of the game industry itself, joint management and governance of families, schools and other aspects is also an important part. What suggestions are there in this regard?
Yang Jinlong: There are now some restrictions on the game industry, including duration, etc. In addition to controlling, it also requires reasonable guidance. To reduce the time for children to play games, we must provide them with more choices and fill in the spare time with more meaningful things. For example, schools at all levels and types should provide more cultural and sports activities to allow students to enrich their extracurricular activities in school. They can participate in more sports activities in addition to learning, which is beneficial to their physical and mental health, and can also cultivate more hobbies and improve their style. In addition, parents should pay more attention to it. Children's habits can be cultivated and planned. Parents should accompany their children more carefully, provide more hobbies and activities, and set some rules for playing games, which will help cultivate children's self-discipline.
Beijing Youth Daily: In recent years, e-sports have been quite popular. Some e-sports players have won world-wide competition championships, causing a sensation among young people. Some people believe that this will guide more young people to be addicted to games, but some people believe that "playing games is also a way out." Have you ever paid attention to this issue? What do you think about this?
Yang Jinlong: I have also noticed this phenomenon. Last year, a game team won the championship, and the students were very excited and their circle of friends was flooded with the screen. I was wondering at the time, and asked the students what was going on and why a game team was so excited to win the championship. I told the students that playing games is OK, but this may bring bad demonstration effects to young people. Young people should have more and greater ideals and ambitions. For most people, this cannot be used as a profession, but is more of a tool to spend time or entertainment and socialize. Everyone takes games as their career goal. How can the social economy develop? So you should look at it rationally.
