At the time of the huge disaster, the Greek Chinese community took emergency action to launch a rescue operation.
On the afternoon of the 24th, Chen Feng, President of the Federation of Greek Chinese and Overseas Chinese Federation and Secretary-General of the Greek Chinese Volunteer Team, issued an initiative in the Greek WeChat group, calling on overseas Chinese leaders to take active actions, carry forward the spirit of the Chinese nation's "one side will support each other when they are in trouble", give love and help the affected people with practical actions. He then established a WeChat group, and Chen Xianfu, chairman of the Fujian Federation of China, was responsible for starting the group donation work.

On the afternoon of the 25th, the Greek Overseas Chinese Association, the Greek Overseas Chinese Women's Association, the Greek Overseas Chinese Fujian Federation and the Greek Overseas Chinese General Chamber of Commerce jointly participated in donating money and materials to the people in the disaster-stricken area in Gumdulu Square. At 6 pm, the first batch of rescue materials were sent to the material distribution center in the disaster area. More than 10 stores including Dali Shoes, Ruyi Trade, Good Night Underwear donated supplies.
On the morning of the 26th, Xia Haiguang, Wu Congxing, and his wife, who came from the northern Thessalonika area, specially purchased urgently needed items such as bath towels, candles, horse lanterns, batteries, etc. with Chinese volunteers Wang Defeng and Chen Guang, and sent the donated items from the Greek department store to the disaster area rescue center at around 3 pm. In the evening of that day, the third and fourth batch of Chinese relief supplies were also delivered.

It is worth mentioning that after the industry association composed of Greek Chinese tour guides, members of the China-Greece Cultural Exchange Association, held an emergency WeChat meeting of the association directors on the 25th to discuss the fundraising and issue an initiative to call on members to donate to the people in the disaster area. The three directors of the association, Wang Yuzhen, Niu Jia and Chen Lei, were responsible for coordinating the donation work. According to the particularity of the tour guide's work, they set up three fundraising points at the attractions they often visit: Athens Women's Street Food Stall, San Dorini Island Oia Chuan Hotel and Ferra Food House Chinese Restaurant. So far, nearly 100 donors have contributed more than 10,000 euros.
It is reported that 360 people from different regions participated in WeChat donations. Among them are Greek and European overseas Chinese and international students, Greek Chinese-funded enterprises staff, Hebei Province overseas Chinese affairs workers, and French Chinese media people. The Federation of Greek Overseas Chinese Associations, Greek Overseas Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Greek China Fujian Association, Greek Qingtian Association, Greek Chinese Fighting Club, etc. also actively participated in the rescue activities.

According to incomplete statistics, by the afternoon of July 28, the Greek Chinese community donated more than 600,000 yuan in disaster relief supplies, more than 100,000 yuan and more than 40,000 euros.
