WTX Intermediate (WTI) futures for April delivery on the New York Mercantile Exchange rose 47 cents, or 1.2%, to close at $39.91 a barrel. The April contract expired on Monday, amplifying its price volatility, with a low of $38.61 today and a maximum of $40.30. The May WTI contract became the main contract, up 38 cents, or 0.9%, to $41.52 a barrel.
