WTX Intermediate (WTI) futures for April delivery on the New York Mercantile Exchange rose 47 cents, or 1.2%, to close at $39.91 a barrel. The April contract expired on Monday, amplifying its price volatility, with a low of $38.61 today and a maximum of $40.30. The May WTI contract became the main contract, up 38 cents, or 0.9%, to $41.52 a barrel.
Since the beginning of the year, the US economic data has been poor, the Federal Reserve's interest rate hike process has remained unchanged, and the European Central Bank and the Bank of Japan have successively introduced quantitative easing policies, and safe-haven currencies such as the Japanese yen have risen sharply.
