Because I need to contact patients at work and are a high-risk person, I got my fourth shot last weekend. I have always chosen the Fubitai vaccine. After each dose, I will have a fever and chills for one or two days. I will be cured of the pain after taking it. Unexpectedly, I was hospitalized this time due to side effects of the vaccine.
0 Time went back to 12 noon last Saturday. I happily took the text message of successfully making an appointment for the injection to the community vaccination center, and as soon as I arrived, I could go directly to the injection room for the injection. The nurse said that after the call, he should rest in the rest area for 15 minutes, and if he did not feel discomfort, he could leave.
In those 15 minutes, I read the vaccination instructions again: it is very common to have fever and chills in , which may affect 1/10 of the patients. Arm pain is uncommon, which may affect approximately ≤1/100 patients. It is very rare for myocarditis , pericarditis , etc. to experience chest pain, and there are only about ≤1/1000 patients.
At that time, I thought to myself that I would have a fever and chills for two days after the first three injections. I guess it would be similar this time. So I went home without much worry.
that night, although I had to take it, I still couldn't sleep well. The next morning, I felt my fever subsided and I didn’t have a chill, thinking that my vaccine reaction had passed. So I didn't continue to take care of the pain and rested quietly at home. I didn’t expect that before dinner the next day, I suddenly felt a suffocation of a suffocation in my chest, but the pain disappeared for a while.
I was quite calm at the time. After self-analysis, I felt that I was still young and had no history of heart disease, so the chance of chest pain was not high. The only possible cause of is to get vaccinated. If you take two more pills, you must treat the pain and wait for a while to see if it is relieved. After dinner, I felt my chest start to hurt continuously again, and I have never tried this feeling. I remembered that someone had myocarditis after getting vaccinated a while ago, and I started to feel a little panicked.
So I quickly searched the Internet and found that the symptoms of myocarditis after vaccination include chest pain , shortness of breath, palpitations , etc., and it is recommended that patients seek medical treatment as soon as possible. I quickly took my blood pressure at home, and it showed 103/80, which was normal; it was normal to take my blood oxygen and body temperature. Therefore, I feel that there is no need to call an ambulance. I immediately packed up my things, took a book and coat, and took the bus to the hospital emergency room.
It was 8:44 when I arrived at the emergency room. After completing the registration procedures, go to the diversion office for basic screening immediately. The nurse will ask about the disease, take blood pressure, and do an electrocardiogram, and then start a long wait. Here is a supplement, my blood pressure has become 113/83, a little higher than at home, but it is still within the normal range.
waited for an hour, and there were dozens of people waiting in front of them. I searched the Internet and found that the waiting time in the emergency room where I am is one of the longest in Hong Kong...
wait until around 1 a.m., after waiting for nearly 4 hours, I finally heard the radio call my name and finally could go to see the doctor. The doctor said that it is normal from the electrocardiogram, but it was not possible to determine whether there was myocarditis and blood was needed for examination. He suggested that I stay in the hospital for one night, take a shower before going to bed and another in the morning to rule out the possibility of myocarditis. I agreed to his arrangement and returned to the diversion office to wait for arrangements to go to the ward.
It was already 2 a.m. before I knew it, and the emergency room was still coming and going. nurses are busy arranging patients and taking blood pressure, while doctors are busy with patients one by one. At this time, I really lament the greatness of medical staff. When the city sleeps in the dark night, the hospital is brightly lit, and medical staff are still serving the citizens carefully.
Not long after, I was arranged by the nurse to do a quick test and nucleic acid test . It is said that I had to do it because I had not been diagnosed with COVID-19, so I went directly to the ward after I finished it. Unexpectedly, after entering the ward area, the nurse said that I was arranged in an empty isolation ward. I was shocked. Did I fall into trouble?
"You are in the isolation ward because your nucleic acid test report has not been released yet, so you can only temporarily stay in the isolation ward. When the result comes out, you will be transferred to the general ward!" I felt relieved when I heard the nurse say this. I think this arrangement is quite good. I am the only one in the huge ward, which is more privacy and quiet.
At this time, it turned out that it was almost 3 o'clock. The nurse came over to take my blood pressure, blood oxygen and body temperature. At this time, my blood pressure was actually 129/86, and the increase in blood pressure was also accompanied by chest pain. At this time, I really felt that there was something wrong with my body.
"Ms., please change into this patient clothes!" The nurse gave me a set of patient clothes. When I changed into a patient's uniform and put on a patient's hand strap, I realized that I was wearing the same patient's uniform as a Hong Kong drama. I am really a patient.
Maybe because I still have medical procedures to do, the lights in the ward were not turned off, and I was half asleep and half awake. At 5 o'clock in the morning, I was woken up by the nurse to get blood and take antibiotics, and after I finished it, I fell asleep in a daze.
At 7:30 in the morning, I heard the sound of someone opening the door. It turned out that breakfast was coming, and it was a bowl of Ganxun corn chicken porridge. I always thought that the food in public hospitals was poor, but I didn’t expect it to be good!
This bowl of chicken porridge is cooked smoothly and not as tasteless as white porridge, it is quite delicious! I had a pleasant breakfast like this, and then I went to sleep again...
At 10:30, I finally waited for the doctor to come and check the rounds. I only had very mild and short chest pain this morning. The doctor said that my heart indicators and electrocardiogram were normal and there was no sign of inflammation, so I didn’t have to continue taking antibiotics. He will arrange for me to draw another blood for a review. If the results are normal, I can be discharged from the hospital in the afternoon. I told my mother happily that I should be discharged from the hospital today!
Wait until 12 o'clock, and I was disappointed this time. It was Caixin gluten corn rice, which is vegetarian. But I'm leaving soon, so I don't mind this meal, just be able to eat enough.
2:30 pm, the nurse said that my examination report was normal. only then did I remember, why do I have chest pain? nurse said that in fact, it is very common for many people to experience discomfort after vaccination, such as shoulder pain , hand pain, chest muscle pain, etc. If you feel uncomfortable after the injection, it is reasonable to come to the hospital for a check-up.
Finally, the nurse said that the doctor was preparing for the discharge report and could be discharged when everything was ready! At this time, I also changed my clothes. Goodbye to my patient clothes~
finally reached 4 pm, and I received the discharge summary and can be discharged! I was very grateful when I learned that I was healthy and finally could leave the ward and end my overnight hospital Staycation.
To be honest, it was the first time I was hospitalized in such a big age. It was the first time I experienced public medical services in Hong Kong from the perspective of a patient. I think although it is too long to wait in the emergency room for 4 hours, the doctors and nurses are loyal and have a high medical level. In addition, the price is really cheap, so I am quite satisfied with the experience of this medical visit.
In addition, although there are serious side effects after the vaccination this time, I still support vaccination after weighing the pros and cons. As long as you understand the side effects of the vaccine, you will be cured. Protect yourself, protect others, and get the vaccine together!
