According to fire officials, at 9:30 am local time on October 12, a fire broke out in a chemistry class at Dinwiddie County High School in Virginia. Four students were burned. One of them was treated on the scene due to minor burns. The remaining three students were sent to a nearby hospital for treatment. One of them was seriously injured and was transferred to the hospital through an air medical helicopter. Another teacher was also sent to a local hospital for treatment due to burns.

The school said in a statement that after the fire was sounded, all students immediately evacuated the building and headed to the designated safe area. The fire was extinguished by firefighters who rushed to the scene immediately. After the incident, the school notified the students to leave school early and asked them to stay at home this Thursday for distance learning and then return to school for classes this Friday.
