This QS World University Ranking includes 71 mainland Chinese universities, of which 24 have improved their rankings compared to last year, 20 have decreased compared to last year, 14 have remained the same rankings, and 13 have been on the list.
The number of universities on the list in China (mainland) is the third in the world: the top two are the United States (201) and the United Kingdom (90).
China (Mainland) has the largest number of universities on the list, with two universities ranking in the top 15 in the world, five universities ranking in the top 50 in the world, thirteen universities ranking in the top 300 in the world, and twenty-eight universities ranking in the top 500 in the world. QS pointed out that the systematic improvement in research performance by mainland Chinese universities is enough to offset the continued decline in QS reputation indicators.

Of the 71 universities on the list, 40 of the teacher-student ratios decreased, and only 18 improved. There are a total of four Chinese (mainland) universities in the world in the top 100 in this indicator, namely Southern University of Science and Technology (97.7/100), Tsinghua University (92.8/100), Fudan University (89.3/100), and Peking University (87.3/100).
"Of the 71 universities on the list, the proportion of international teachers in 49 Chinese (mainland) universities has declined, which is a side effect of the global epidemic. However, Zhejiang University has entered the top 100 of this indicator against the trend.
