After the education and rectification of the political and legal team in 2021 was launched, the Danzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau attached great importance to the investigation of backlog murder cases, launched a new round of backlog murder battles, established the "7.13" task force, listed this case as a key case investigation, and made every effort to pursue the fugitive suspect Yang Moujie. During the work period, investigators repeatedly visited the suspects and the families of the victims, and their footprints were spread across many cities and counties in Hainan and Guangdong. With the joint efforts of various police and departments, they finally grasped an important clue: The suspect Yang Moujie has now been named "Zhang Shenglao" and lives by recycling waste items in the Xinglong Farm in Wanning City.
On July 25, 2021, after careful control, the police of the task force of the Danzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau successfully arrested "Zhang Sheng Lao". Faced with the sudden trial of the police, "Zhang Sheng Lao" was still lucky at first and denied the facts of the crime. But in the face of iron evidence, the suspect's psychological defense quickly collapsed. admitted that his true identity was Yang Moujie, the main culprit of the "1.31" case that the Danzhou police had been pursuing for many years, and truthfully confessed the murder case committed in , Baimajing Town, in October 2002.
At present, Yang Moujie has been criminally detained by the Danzhou police in accordance with the law. These two backlogs of murder cases that have been covered in nearly 20 years have been successfully solved.
It is understood that since this year, the Danzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau has solved four murder cases in a row.
