On July 22, Beijing time, the Laval Cup officially announced that the 21st Grand Slam champion Djokovic will appear in this year's event, which also means that Federer, Nadal, Djokovic and Murray's "Big Four" will gather in this Laval Cup to jointly represent the European team.
"The Laval Cup is the only event where you can see the Big Three and Big Four participating in a team." Djokovic once said in an interview this year in Wimbledon. "Of course, this event is a very fresh and exciting experience for our players and fans around the world."
This will also be Djokovic's second time participating in the Laval Cup. He represented the European team in 2018. He played in a singles and a doubles game, in which the doubles game was partnered with Swiss king Federer, and the two lost to the Anderson/Sorke combination.
Laval Cup has been successfully held for four sessions since 2017 (the 2020 event was cancelled due to the epidemic). All the previous four Laval Cups won the European team. The 2022 Laver Cup will be held at the O2 Stadium in London from September 23 to 25. At present, Aliasim, Fritz and Schwartzman have confirmed to represent the world team. Björg Borg and John McEnroe will continue to serve as captains of the European and World teams respectively.
