At the time when the Russian-Ukrainian conflict is tense, Ukrainian parliamentarians actually play the "Taiwan card". According to German media reports, under the instigation of Ukrainian anti-China parliamentarian Merezko, some Ukrainian parliamentarians formed the so-called "friendly Taiwan group". In addition, Merezko also issued a statement that after the outbreak of the Ukrainian war, the Taiwanese authorities quickly adopted sanctions against Russia and provided assistance to Ukraine, but mainland China stood by and even stated that it would establish an "unlimited partnership" with Russia. He said he could not accept China's approach.

Merrezko's inappropriate remarks are completely inverting black and white, distorting basic facts. First of all, how to develop bilateral relations with Russia is China's diplomatic sovereignty, and Ukraine has no right to interfere. China and Russia are independent bilateral relations and are not affected by third parties.

Secondly, on the Russian-Ukrainian issue, China has never stood by and watched. On the one hand, China has been promoting a peaceful solution to the Russian-Ukrainian issue internationally and has also contributed to peace plans many times. If the relevant parties could listen to China's advice before the conflict broke out and comply with the " New Minsk Agreement " recognized by the Security Council , the conflict would not have broken out. On the other hand, after the outbreak of the conflict, China also provided Ukraine with a large amount of humanitarian aid. From the above, Merezke's statement is completely inverted to black and white.

More importantly, Taiwan issue is China's internal affairs and no external forces are allowed to interfere. The so-called "Taiwan Friends Group" is nothing more than trying to collude with the Taiwan authorities on the grounds of so-called "values" or economic and trade exchanges. Such behavior seriously violates the One-China principle.

Of course, the "Friendship Group" formed by Merezko only represents the position of some Ukrainian anti-China parliamentarians, not the Ukrainian government. It is understood that although the group has been essentially formed, the Ukrainian parliament has not announced the establishment of the group. Merezko lied to say that this was the result of "pressure" from mainland China, and in fact, this was the decision made by the Ukrainian government itself.

On September 24, the foreign ministers of China and Ukraine held bilateral talks. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kureba made it clear that Ukraine will always adhere to the one-China policy and support China in safeguarding sovereignty and territorial integrity. Kureba’s statement on the Taiwan issue is much clearer than that of the United States and the West, especially the statement that supports China in maintaining territorial integrity is actually supporting the mainland to achieve cross-strait reunification. As for the Russia-Ukrainian issue, Ukrainian President Zelensky has also personally expressed his views that he agrees with the policies adopted by China.

On the Taiwan issue, it is the government rather than the parliament, not the "friendly Taiwan group" composed of individual parliament members. The Ukrainian government is clear about what the Taiwan issue means to China, and if it opposes the Chinese government on the Taiwan issue, it will face very serious consequences. So if Ukraine has not lost its mind yet, it will not cause trouble on the Taiwan issue.

The so-called "friendly and Taiwan group" established by Ukrainian anti-China parliamentarians is likely to be the result of the joint efforts of "US and Taiwan". For a long time, the United States not only has itself played the edge on the Taiwan issue through so-called "parliamentary diplomacy", but also has coerced and tempted allies to follow the United States' approach. Members of Congress from Japan, Czech , Lithuania and other countries have all had similar actions.

But the purpose of their doing this is not really supporting the Taiwanese authorities. For example, Japanese congressman Keiji Koya was to promote high-speed rail and seek economic benefits. For example, former US Secretary of State Pompeo was to gain political capital. But no matter how they speculate, they cannot stop the historical trend and inevitable trend of cross-strait reunification.
