The Wildlife Photographer of the Year (WPY) announced its 2019 winner on October 15 local time. This is the 55th year that WPY has gone through. This year, the event organizing committee has received a total of 48,000 entries from photographers in 100 countries and regions around the world.

Chinese photographer Bao Yongqing won the title of Wildlife Photographer of the Year for his Tibetan fox attacks Himalayan marmot pictures taken in the Qilian Mountains National Nature Reserve. This is the first time that a Chinese photographer has won this honor.

14-year-old New Zealand teenager Cruz Erdmann won another highest honor in the competition - the Youth Wildlife Photographer of the Year with his father when he was diving at night in the Lembe Strait in Indonesia.
