The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a regular press conference on the morning of February 24, and spokesperson Ma Xiaoguang answered reporters' questions.
A reporter asked that Li Duzhong, a professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering of Taiwan University, was found to have violated relevant regulations and fined by the Taiwan education authorities for presiding on relevant scientific research plans in the mainland. The Mainland Affairs Council said it will continue to work with relevant agencies to investigate and deal with similar situations. What is the spokesperson’s comment on this?
Ma Xiaoguang said that strengthening cross-strait scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation is conducive to mutual benefit and win-win results between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, which is a consensus among the science and technology communities on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. For political purposes, the DPP authorities have restricted and even punished Taiwanese scientific researchers in participating in cross-strait scientific and technological exchange projects in various ways. Professor Li's punishment this time is another manifestation of the "pan-politicization" operation of the DPP authorities. The DPP authorities have been increasingly interfering with and undermining normal exchanges and cooperation between the cross-strait science and technology sectors, which will only make more and more people in the science and technology sector in Taiwan feel disappointed.
