Shijingshan Plain greening shows the characteristics of many dot-shaped forests and few large-scale patches. To this end, the new general plan will rely on the forest landscape resources of the Yongding River and the west axis to connect dot-shaped forests through new and optimized methods, and build four near-natural forest patches at Yamenkou, Laoshan, Hongguangshan-Sipingshan and Jindingshan in the plain area, with a total area of 360 hectares, which is about 15 Jingshan Parks, forming a large-scale contiguous green space in the western urban area of Beijing.
●Yamenkou Urban Forest
is located in the Yamenkou Bridge area of Lianshi East Road, Shijingshan District, connecting the "West Mountain Yongding River Cultural Belt" and the urban area. It is the extension and infiltration of the natural landscape of Beijing to the city. It is also the gateway landscape area for the three railways, namely the Beijing-Shi Passenger Line, Jingyuan Railway and Xichang Link Line, and is the southwest gate of Beijing urban area. The core plot extends to Jingyuan Railway in the west, to Yamenkou No. 5 Road in the east, to Jingyuan Road in the north, and to the railway reserved land in the south, with a total area of 98.63 hectares. The plan is based on urban forests and ecological services as the core to build a green space system.
Among them, the area of the urban forest planning conservation area of Yamenkou will be no less than 34.3 hectares, and the canopy coverage rate will be no less than 80%. The tree species should be selected to have tall trees with large crowns and thick shades, and cultivate poplars, locust trees, drought willows, 100-headed tons, gingko, Orchid cypress, pine, ash, peaches, mountain apricots, etc. to create a city with a stacked crown and a colorful seasonal environment, so that the artificially created forest can be gradually restored to a near-natural state. The project is currently undergoing the construction bidding procedures and is scheduled to complete the 25 hectares of greening task by the end of October this year, mainly concentrated on the west side of the Fifth Ring Road, and the remaining part will be implemented next year.
●Laoshan Urban Forest
East to Shangzhuang Street, on the west side, the Laoshan Olympic venue group, the south to Laoshan South Road and the north to Tiancunshan South Road, with a planned area of 79.07 hectares. The plan is divided into core forest landscape areas and forest conservation areas. The current forest resources will be transformed and improved by increasing the under-forest space and reducing the density of forest stands, increasing the recreation space under the forest, and improving the accessibility of citizens. At the same time, basic recreation, watering, and lighting basic management facilities will be added to build a multi-functional urban green lung that integrates ecology, recreation, landscape and other functions.
●Hongguang Mountain-Sipingshan Urban Forest
will transform and utilize the current mountain with a lower quality, with a total planned area of 144.1 hectares, and build it into a Winter Olympic themed forest park, forming an echo of Shougang Industrial Site Park .
●Jindingshan Urban Forest
The total planned area is 39 hectares. The forest coverage will be expanded and jointly created a green urban service space integrating image display, ecological science popularization, and citizens' leisure functions.
Chang'an Street west extension to create a forest green corridor connecting Chang'an Shiyuan
Shijingshan District will rely on Shijingshan Road to continue and improve road greening within 1 km west extension to Chang'an Street north and south, create a forest park group, build a strip-shaped green space, improve the landscape image of the city's main roads, and continue the landscape characteristics of the west axis of Beijing.
Chang'an Forest Green Corridor will combine the current situation of Shijingshan Road, strengthen road greening construction and landscape improvement, and create a tree-lined avenue with rich layers, shaded trees, transparent vision, and comfortable pedestrians, including the 5.7-kilometer Yuquan Road to Gucheng Street landscape improvement, and the 2.5-kilometer gucheng Street to Liangshuichi East Road newly built greening.
In addition, within 1 km west of Chang'an Street, Shijingshan will build or transform and upgrade 10 public green spaces based on the site's own current status and resource characteristics to form Chang'an Ten Parks, becoming an urban green open space embedded on the west axis. At present, Beijing International Sculpture Park, Amusement Park South Square, etc. have been built. The construction area is Shougang Factory East Gate Green Space, Xin'an Park, Langyuan, Laoshan Urban Leisure Park South District, Songlin Park, Wangjing Park, etc., with a construction area of 66 hectares, and the total progress has reached 85% of the planned.
Construct six urban greenways with a total length of 45 kilometers
To create a slow road system that can meet pedestrians and cyclists entering the natural landscape, Shijingshan will connect the roadside green belts, strip parks, street green spaces, wetland park roads, etc. through new construction and reconstruction, making the greenway a "green artery" of urban forests and provide citizens with vibrant and diversified outdoor communication space. By the end of the planning period, Shijingshan will build six urban greenways: Yongding River Waterfront Greenway, Xishan Greenway, Yongyinqu Greenway, Fushi Road Greenway, East Street Greenway, and Lianshi Road Greenway, forming a "three horizontal and three vertical" greenway pattern, with a total length of about 45 kilometers.
Among them, Yongyin Flower Forest (Longhai Tianyi Plot) belongs to the landscape node in the landscape green corridor on the north side of Yongyin Canal, covering an area of 23,200 square meters, about 400 meters long and about 60 meters wide. The green space retains the current poplar forest, adds autumn leaf varieties such as Yuanbaofeng and Yellow Bean , and also adds spring flowering varieties such as cherry blossoms and crabapples. There are summer flowering varieties such as sakura and thirty-fruit vegetarian, so that the scenery in spring, summer, autumn and winter is different.
Yongyin Canal Waterfront Corridor will be unveiled at the end of the year
Shijingshan District has 20 large and small rivers, including Yongding River, Yongding River Diversion Canal and Renmin Canal. The total mileage length of the river is about 70 kilometers. At present, the small and medium-sized river management projects have completed 7 small and medium-sized river channels, including Renmin Canal and Gaojinggou, with a total length of 15.09 kilometers, all of which meet the flood control standards.
Among them, Yongyin Canal is an important axis in the water system landscape planning of Shijingshan District, connecting many cultural attractions such as Badatu, Fahai Temple, and Modekou Cultural Resources Zone. It is an important corridor crossing the Yongding River and the West Mountain. However, since its construction in 1956, Yongyin Canal has not undergone physical upgrading and transformation for a long time, and still maintains its characteristics in the industrial era.
Shijingshan District started the Yongyin Canal landscape improvement project in September last year, starting from Jindingshan Road in the west, ending at the west Fifth Ring Road in the east, ending at the Shijingshan Park in Zhongguancun in the south, and ending at the insurance industry park in the north. The river section with a total length of about 4 kilometers is divided into three parts, combining the Shougang, Model Entrance, Insurance Industry Park, West Fifth Ring Road and other aspects along the route to create three theme sections of the past, present and future. The river channel and the landscape on both sides of the river will be improved overall, and a new fitness trail of about 7 kilometers will be built on both sides of the river to create a vibrant urban waterfront corridor integrating ecology, life, culture and water conservancy functions.
Currently, canna, flower-leaf reed bamboo, yellow calamus , etc. are being replanted on both sides of the river. Vegetation with rich landscape levels extends from the river surface to the shore. There are also modern water-friendly plank roads and 12 viewing platforms in the middle, breaking the cement embankment and barbed wire that was originally kept thousands of miles away, allowing tourists to get close to the water surface. The green corridors on the north and south sides will introduce vines such as honeysuckle and cottage, shrubs such as hibiscus, roses, forsythia, and trees such as Sophora, Orchidon, and Yuanbao Maple to form a garden landscape from near to far and from low to high. A 7-kilometer slow-moving trail on both sides of the strait runs through the middle of the green space, and some trails on the north side will also be built into a luminous runway to meet the needs of residents for fitness and exercise.
In addition, the night view lighting along the river is also a highlight of this transformation. The lighting design sets the waterfront zone as a high-brightness zone, the slow-moving system of the two corridors is set as a medium-brightness zone, and lighting methods such as luminous runways are added to enhance the overall vitality and charm of the Yongyin Canal area through moderate and beautiful night view effects. Current situation: The 11 cross-river bridges will also be brightened and transformed, which can show festive and regular effects respectively. The project is under intense construction and the vibrant modern urban waterfront corridor is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
