From a special police officer to a pragmatic instructor of the Police Training Department of the Guangzhou Public Security Bureau, Zhang Weimin has been working as a police officer for 24 years. In 1997, Zhang Weimin joined the Guangzhou Special Police after graduating from Police School . The city's 100-day special training camp made him stand out and was soon selected as a junior instructor to assist in general practice training including weapons, fighting, climbing, tactics, and queues. This was his first time as an instructor, and it was precisely because of this time that the seeds of becoming a police instructor were planted in his heart.

It was not that easy to organize police teaching work easily. Years of special police training have made him deeply realize the importance of police technology and tactics in actual combat. After becoming a police instructor, he deeply felt that "police skills teaching is not so easy to do." Zhang Weimin knew that he had shortcomings, but because of his love, he insisted on studying, spent a lot of time reading professional course books, learning excellent courseware from his predecessors, listening to the old instructors' lectures, and actively asking senior instructors at the police academy. During the break, he actively communicated with the students, listened to their opinions and suggestions, polished his courseware and teaching methods over and over again, enriching his course reserves step by step, and improving teaching skills bit by bit.
In order to make teaching closer to actual combat, in 2016, Zhang Weimin voluntarily signed up to the police station for one year of exercise. During his time at the police station, he took the initiative to apply to various positions to carry out work, enriching his work experience at the grassroots level, and laying a solid foundation for future course design to be more realistic.

When he first arrived at the police training department in 2015, he happened to be conducting an instructor competition. The leader considered that Zhang Weimin was new and was not familiar with the instructor's various business, so he arranged for him to observe and study. But with a spirit of unyielding defeat, Zhang Weimin took the initiative to participate in the instructor competition. After fierce competition, Zhang Weimin's instructor team finally won the first place in the group, and he also won the second place in the pistol competition.
In 2017, in order to improve the ability of the instructor team, Lhasa City, Tibet Autonomous Region specially invited the Guangzhou Public Security Bureau to select instructors to go to Lhasa for a three-month teaching work. Zhang Weimin volunteered to go. Faced with difficulties such as altitude sickness and disagreement in the water and the land, he withstood the pressure, tried his best to complete the task well. Zhang Weimin, who returned to Guangzhou, smiled and said, "I left more than ten kilograms of meat in Lhasa."
In 2018, the Tibetan police held a district-wide competition. In order to achieve better results, the Lhasa Municipal Public Security Bureau sent the competition team to the Guangzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau for training for one month. This task fell on Zhang Weimin's shoulders. At the end of the training, the Lhasa Municipal Public Security Bureau specially proposed to invite the instructor Zhang Weimin, who led the team, to go to Tibet again and continue to train for the players for two months until the end of the competition. After hard and skillful practice, leading the team members to dare to fight and be good at making a fortune. The Lhasa Municipal Public Security Bureau finally won the first place in the district.

Zhang Weimin has a deep foundation in the application of pistol shooting. He started from introducing the structure of guns and led the trainees to understand the characteristics of various pistols. The combination of the two allows students to quickly master practical shooting skills. During a teaching, a female policeman who had been a police officer for many years had not achieved ideal results in live-fire shooting. During the re-examination, Zhang Weimin was responsible for teaching shooting courses. Zhang Weimin immediately analyzed the police's shooting situation. After several live ammunition analysis, he immediately found the reason and provided targeted guidance. In the end, the female policeman reached an "excellent" level during the make-up exam.
During the pistol shooting training, loading is the most critical step. Zhang Weimin has very strict requirements on the loading movements of the students. Students who fail to load properly will often be "punished" by him. After that, the students will teach carefully again until they master it. Zhang Weimin broke the boring teaching mode of pistol shooting training in the past, and took practical cases as the line to bring out various practical skills of "simple, practical, and easy to practice", so that the trainees can master various practical police skills more quickly.

In May 2021, the local COVID-19 epidemic in Guangzhou broke out again. Zhang Weimin immediately rushed to the front line of epidemic prevention and control in Liwan District, turned into a big name in the police circle, and participated in the work of the "three-person group". Zhang Weimin's wife is the head nurse of ICU, the Eighth People's Hospital of Guangzhou. The epidemic has recurred. As the number of patients accepted by the Eighth People's Hospital of Guangzhou, the number of patients received can be imagined. As the leader of the ICU department, she has never had a day off and has never returned home. In this way, Zhang Weimin and his wife each stood on the front line of epidemic prevention and control, leaving their son for this year's college entrance examination alone at home. The family of three who were in Guangzhou but could not meet was even a luxury to talk about video calls. Zhang Weimin was resting and his wife was in the ward, but his son was in class when his wife got off work. They could only greet each other by leaving a message on WeChat and cheer up. Zhang Weimin wrote his encouragement to his son in protective clothing and buried his responsibilities to his family in his heart.
Spring and autumn fruits, and hundreds of times become steel. Zhang Weimin took root in the front line of training and changed from a novice to a police skilled instructor with excellent skills. With his outstanding work performance, he was selected as a municipal bureau-level instructor of the Guangzhou Public Security Bureau. Although the instructor position is ordinary, Zhang Weimin sticks to the front-line training position, performs his duties loyally, and uses his actions and sweat to interpret the original mission of the people's police.
