According to media reports, on June 15, Hon Hai Chairman Liu Yangwei revealed at the groundbreaking ceremony of its first electric vehicle battery cell research and development and mass production center that Hon Hai is committed to making a self-made battery module, and it is one of the key development projects for electric vehicles this year.
Liu Yangwei also said that Hon Hai’s first overseas battery cell production base should be in Indonesia. Hon Hai is currently studying cobalt, phosphorus, lithium and other materials, and developing technologies in Taiwan.
In the future, it will continue to cooperate with local manufacturers in Indonesia, Thailand, the United States and other places to build factories and mass production on-site to create battery cells and lithium iron phosphate battery supply chains.
Hon Hai is Foxconn's parent company, which is Apple's core OEM.
