China News Service Xiamen, July 17 (Huang Yongchu) The 2019 Strait Cup (Xiang'an) Youth Baseball Invitational Tournament started at Dali Middle School in Xiamen. More than 300 young people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait made friends through the ball and exchanged ideas.
The baseball invitational tournament lasts for two days, with 16 teams participating, including 5 Taiwanese teams; three groups are divided into Happy Group, Striving Group, and Competitive Group according to age group to start competition.
Jiang Baiqing, a teacher at Taoyuan City Shoushan High School, was invited to lead students to mainland China for baseball competitions for the second time. Jiang Baiqing said that when he came to Xiamen this time, he found that the weather and language here are similar to those in Taiwan, there is no difficulty in adapting, and there is also a very good baseball stadium. He hopes that the children can achieve good results.
Jiang Baiqing told reporters that for teenagers, participating in such a game is a good opportunity to enhance friendship and football skills; for coaches, it is also an opportunity to learn from each other.
Zheng Mingling, Secretary-General of Xiamen Baseball Association, said that compared with Taiwan, Xiamen baseball has developed slowly and there is still a lot of room for development. The invitational tournament is held, hoping to let more young people understand and participate in baseball. The exchanges between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait can also promote the development of Fujian-Taiwan baseball career.
A Taiwanese coach who coaches at Dali Middle School in Xiamen told reporters that baseball is a team sport that requires continuous accumulation of experience in practice and competition and increase team understanding.
