Xinhua News Agency, Taipei, January 21 (Reporters Liu Fei and Zhang Lixin) Taiwan's 5G commercial service development vision summit was held in Taipei on the 21st, attracting more than 150 operators and experts and scholars from the communications industry, terminal industry, technology research and development and other fields to discuss the current status and future of 5G commercial development in Taiwan.
Xie Qingjiang, chairman of the Taiwan Zitong Industry Standards Association, said that the second version of the 5G standard is a relatively complete and mature technical standard version, which is expected to be finalized from the second quarter to the third quarter of 2020. Product research and development and interoperability tests will be followed up, and then commercial operations will be carried out. Combining 5G with smart technology applications such as the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence is a visible trend in future development. In addition to improving the efficiency of traditional communications, 5G can also increase the added value of Taiwan's traditional industries.
The head of the communication and communication management department in Taiwan said that the emergence of 5G communication technology will not only accelerate the application of emerging technologies such as the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence, but may also completely change Taiwan's economy and people's lives. We will support all telecommunications operators to integrate Taiwan's 5G equipment manufacturers, link up industrial chains such as application layer, network layer, , and sensing layer, and strive to strive for the 2020 commercial transformation goals.
Last year, the Taiwan China Telecom pilot team and the Far Transmission Telecom 5G vanguard team were formed, becoming the leader in leading the development of Taiwan's 5G industry. Among them, the China Telecom pilot team aims to achieve 5G pre-commercial services in 2020, and combines network communication and equipment manufacturers on and off the island to establish a 5G ecosystem. It is expected that in the first half of this year, it can provide test areas for manufacturer members to conduct 5G product integration testing and application development.
Far Transmission 5G Pioneer takes Internet of Vehicles as the main application field, combines it with the Internet of Vehicles industry chain, jointly develops technology and business models, and plans a new vision of smart transportation in the 5G era.
In addition, Asia Pacific Telecom, another major communications operator in Taiwan, obtained Taiwan’s first 5G experimental network license at the end of last year, officially conducted preliminary 5G testing in Taiwan, and launched a series of pre-5G smart life applications with Hon Hai Technology Group.
This summit is co-organized by Taiwan Zitong Industry Standards Association, MediaTek and China Telecom. During the period, the summit also set up a 5G display area to display the 5G application scenarios and solutions of MediaTek, China Telecom, Yuanshi Telecom, Asia Pacific Telecom and other companies.
