is ashamed! Although I have been to many places in Indonesia over the years, most of them are busy with work, and I have to write articles to survive, and I have few leisurely special trips. But due to professional habits, whenever I go to a place, I have also observed and recorded some local customs. Now I have sorted out a little, and I am here to show off .

When I was in Indonesia, I lived in the capital Jakarta for a long time. I often went to Surabaya, Wanlong , Semarang and other places. These are all major cities in Java Island and are well-known. I have repeatedly described it in my previous articles that there are many information on various attractions online, so I will not repeat it here. I will only talk about my feelings from the following two aspects.

The house of middle-class Chinese in Indonesia

This is a townhouse in the new Chinese village of Band Indagob, Jakarta, where I lived more than ten years ago when I first arrived in Indonesia. Indonesia is as summer as all year round, with abundant flowers and plants. The outdoor decoration of this family surprised friends from China, especially from the north. This type of residence belongs to the typical Chinese middle class.

When I first came to Indonesia, I was in a Chinese community in Jakarta with my colleague Xiao Meng.

Indonesia has 250 million people, mainly distributed on the five major islands of Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sierian and Sulawesi. Among them, Java Island is the most economically developed region in the country and has the largest population. Java Island has an area of only 130,000 square kilometers, which is about the same size as Fujian, a middle-class province in my country. Almost half of the country's population of 270 million lives in Java. The island is undoubtedly one of the most densely populated areas in the world.

Reasoningly, a region with such a high population density, its urban residential buildings should definitely be full of high-rise buildings. But strangely, except for the capital Jakarta, there are some residential buildings with 2 or 30 stories high, most of which are villas and villas with a maximum of one or two or three stories. I have been to several cities in Indonesia. There are many matchbox-style building communities and workers' new villages in our country that are everywhere in five or six stories high. I can't see a single one here.

, the capital of Semarang, Central Java Province, has a pattern and style similar to some villa residential areas in China in recent years.

In fact, in Indonesia, except for some developers who built villas in pieces and then sold them to customers, many residential buildings in communities were built by themselves after buying land from developers.

Indonesia private house building is very free. As long as you buy a piece of land of your own in the community, you can do whatever you want, and build whatever you want. It doesn’t matter what style you want. However, the government's laissez-faire for private house construction has not led to the chaos of the building form. On the contrary, although each villa in the Xincun community is different in style, it is arranged in a rigorous and orderly manner, complementing each other. The overall appearance of the community thus presents a pleasing and harmonious beauty.

The photo above was taken not in the park, but a Chinese residential area in northern Jakarta. There are several large two or three-story houses scattered sparsely on both sides of the woods, but unfortunately they were not taken in the picture. The population density of Java Island in Indonesia is much larger than that of China, but rich people can still occupy such a large space! What I was thinking at that time was: If this place is placed in a domestic city, how many high-rise residential buildings can be built in and how many people can solve the housing problems of how many people!

But if measured from the perspective of housing, the living environment of the domestic middle class will be greatly inferior to that of the middle-aged Indonesian people. A rich man or a billionaire cannot be compared with a Indonesian rank of rich men who often covers an area of thousands of square meters and is like a palace.

This is due to different national conditions and is beyond the reach of personal strength!

My old colleague and brother, former editor-in-chief of China Railway Construction Entertainment Edition and now deputy editor-in-chief of Indonesia International Daily Wen Xi, when I first came to Jakarta, I took him to a community next to a golf course to inspect the luxury house of a Chinese boss. The house behind him looked like an important department of the government, but it was actually the home of an unknown Huashang surnamed Cai. And my old friend Mr. Zhang looks like a computer repair guy.

Indonesia's third- and fourth-tier small cities are so

In terms of the city appearance, in our China, generally speaking, big cities are neat and beautiful than small cities, clean and orderly. Small cities are far behind, especially in some small counties. They usually give people the impression that they are dirty, messy and messy. Indonesia seems to be the opposite. Although the capital Jakarta is large, it is noisy and crowded, messy, and has relatively backward municipal facilities. At least half of the streets have no aesthetic sense. In contrast, many small cities in Indonesia are actually very good, refreshing and neat, simple and peaceful folk customs, and ethnic customs, making people feel quite comfortable.

For example, Kediri, a small town in East Java that I interviewed that year.

km southwest from Sishui River, Chiangyili is located on the banks of the Brantas River that flows through East Java.

There is a famous Salt Clove Group in Qiandao, a small town, in Jianyili.

The following picture is the blue building decorated with two red letters, which is the headquarters of Yancang Group.

This giant enterprise founded by Fuqing Chinese predecessor Cai Yunhui in the early years. It is one of the Chinese enterprise groups with the greatest influence in Indonesian society and the government and the opposition. At its peak, it had more than 50,000 employees, accounting for 50% of the Indonesian cigarette market.

I stayed in this small hotel run by Chinese that night in Jianyili.

The hotel is clean and quiet, and the service attitude is good. It provides free breakfast, the daily fee is less than RMB 200.

The following pictures were taken casually when I was wandering around the streets of the small town the next morning.

I like a small city like Jianyili where life is peaceful and people are friendly.

Let’s look at another small town, Tulungagung (Tulungagung).

This is a county town on Java Island, bordering the Indian Ocean, the urban area is about 15 square kilometers, with more than 8,000 Chinese people, and many of them are doing business and opening stores. The small town is quite neat and the people are gentle. There are no tall buildings and few dirty and messy. The streets remain unchanged for fifty years, and old-fashioned shops still retain counters, just like China's supply and marketing cooperative back then. I came here from Sisai to interview local Chinese to interview the local Chinese, Mazu birthday celebration event held by (see the picture below) .

Chinese temple of Dolongyagong.

Chinese believers from other cities chartered a bus to escort the gods worshipped in the temples there, and came to the Mazu Tianhou Temple in Dulongya Gong to hold a celebration.

These two Indonesian sisters-in-law who were walking by the river stopped and looked at each other with a happy and embarrassed smile.

Finally, let’s talk about Yamaguchi Yo, a small town on Sikamantan Island.

This is the only Chinese city in Indonesia that has not been assimilated.

The Dragon Boat Festival last year, I followed the couple of Huashang Nange of Coconut City to his hometown Yamaguchi.

2-year-old Nange was born and raised in Yamaguchi Ocean. Later, he lived in Coconut City and became rich. He became rich and became famous. He finally loved his hometown and bought a property in his hometown, bought a large area of land, reclaimed farms, built leisure villas, invested in gardening, built bird's nest houses, and founded an iron furniture company... Diversified business was booming, and since then he has been rushing between Jakarta and Yamaguchi Ocean, and lived in both places, which is a great pleasure.

The author and Mr. Lin Rongnan, overseas Chinese, took a photo at the dividing line of the north and south hemisphere of the equatorial sign of the Pontianak in the West Gala.

一1一1一1一1一1一1一147 kilometers west of 帀年多博取款多博取款多博取款多博取款多博取款多博取款多博取款多博取款多博取款多博取款多博取款多博取款多博取款多博取款多博取款多博取款多博 In Indonesia, at the edge of the equator, it is known for its comfortable climate and beautiful scenery, which is very suitable for people to live in. Moreover, the local soil is mostly volcanic ash, which is extremely fertile, and the plants and crops grow very well, and there is a green scene everywhere.

According to historical records, as early as the 12th century, many Chinese (mainly Chaoshan, Meixian and other places in Guangdong) crossed Hainan to move to the Yamaguchiyang area. Therefore, since ancient times, Chinese have accounted for the majority here. Today, among the more than 200,000 residents of Yamaguchi, more than 60% of the Chinese are Chinese, and less than 40% of the other two ethnic groups, , Malays and Daya. It is said that as early as the era of President Wahid in 2001, the Indonesian government approved the implementation of autonomy in West Kalimantan. Subsequently, the leaders of the three major ethnic groups in West Kalimantan, Daya tribe, Malay tribe, and Chinese tribe, reached an agreement, which reiterated that the Chinese in West Kalimantan Province are one of the local indigenous peoples. This is currently the only province in Indonesia that recognizes Chinese as indigenous people. The agreement also stipulates that the second largest city in Xica Province, Chinese people account for more than 60% of the Yamaguchi Yoshishi, and the position of mayor must be held by Chinese. In Pontianak, the capital of West Ca province, where Chinese people account for about 30%, it is stipulated that the position of deputy mayor must be held by Chinese. The heads of government of other counties and cities are the members of the Daya tribe and the Malay tribe. The consensus agreement reached by the leaders of the three major ethnic groups also reiterates that no one shall violate the provisions of the agreement. Currently, Mayor Yamaguchi Yoshi is a local Chinese woman named Cai Cuimei, which is very rare in Indonesian cities.

According to locals, Yamaguchi Yoshi City is divided into old port and new port with three main streets in three shapes. In the early days, a large number of Hakka people from Chaoshan District, Guangdong came here to collect gold and make a living, have children, and brought the local Hakka dialect here, forming the unique Hepo dialect of Yamaguchi (Hepo Town, Jiexi County, Guangdong), and continued the living customs of Guangdong Hakka people .

Then, fellow villagers around Hepo began to gather in Shankou, mostly making a living by farming and handicrafts, gradually forming a Hepo group. They opened Chinese medicine stores, bookstores, barber shops, snack shops, etc. here, and communicated with each other in Kapo dialect, thus the famous Hapo Street, which is familiar to the foreigners in Yamaguchi.

Zhongxing Street, built in the 1930s, is the most prosperous commercial and residential street in Xinbutou. There is a dragon pillar statue in the center of the street (see the picture below). This golden Chinese dragon is not only a symbol of Zhongxing Street, but also a symbol of local Chinese.

Huadu Street is another famous street in Xinbutou. It has the Chinese Chamber of Commerce built in 1952 and the Huadu Theater (picture below).

In the 1950s and 1960s, many famous movies in mainland China were released here, such as "White-Haired Girl", "The Story of Liubao", "Liu Sanjie", "Shangganling", etc., which made that generation of overseas Chinese feel intoxicated and still remember them vividly.

In my opinion, Yamaguchi Yo is actually a small Nanyang town with diverse cultures. But compared with the many cities in Java where Chinese people are accustomed to speaking Indonesian , this place may be called the only Chinese city in Indonesia that has not been assimilated. An important proof is that local Chinese, regardless of age, are all used in Hakka dialect, and most of them can speak the standard Chinese Mandarin . This really makes me feel extremely friendly to the guests from China like me.

Sculpture outside the Yangkou Yangcheng. The three portraits holding a large pot of lotus in the middle are Chinese, Malays and Daya people, symbolizing the unity and harmony between the three major local ethnic groups.

I hope that domestic tourists who come to Indonesia, through the introduction of this article, in addition to visiting tourist attractions Bali and Jakarta, they can also take a walk in these small cities in Indonesia, which may give you a better feeling.
