Wang Wenbin introduced that today, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Japanese Foreign Minister Lin Fangzheng held a video meeting. During the meeting, State Councilor Wang Yi said that this year marks the 450th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between China and Japan and is an important milestone in the history of the development of bilateral relations. The leaders of the two countries reached an important consensus last year on promoting the construction of China-Japan relations that meet the requirements of the new era. Both sides should take this as a guide and take the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations as an opportunity to consolidate the political foundation of bilateral relations, and safeguard, consolidate and develop the hard-won friendly situation created by the joint efforts of the predecessors of the two countries and the people of the two countries.
State Councilor Wang Yi pointed out that the most urgent task is to focus on doing three things. First, we must truly grasp the correct direction of bilateral relations. The four political documents of China and Japan have determined the general direction of peaceful and friendly cooperation in the relationship between the two countries, laid a series of important principles such as the two countries being partners and not posing a threat to each other, and are the fundamental guarantee for ensuring the stable and healthy development of China-Japan relations. The more complex and severe the relationship between the two countries is, the more we must not forget our original aspirations and unswervingly adhere to the principles and spirit of the four political documents of China and Japan. We should establish a correct understanding between each other, actively carry out positive interactions, plan the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations, strengthen exchanges and cooperation at all levels and fields, and create a positive public opinion and social atmosphere.
2 We must enrich the momentum of the bilateral relations. Economic and trade cooperation is the "ballast stone" and "propeller" of bilateral relations. China's acceleration of the construction of a new dual circulation development pattern will provide more opportunities for Japan and the world. The two sides should tap into the potential for cooperation and strengthen coordination and cooperation in the fields of digital economy , green and low-carbon, gas change governance, etc., to achieve higher levels of mutual benefit and win-win results.
3: Interference factors should be eliminated in a timely manner. Recently, Japan's negative trends on issues such as Taiwan that involve China's core interests and major concerns have become prominent. Some political forces have smeared and attacked China for no reason, seriously undermining mutual trust between the two sides and shaking the foundation of bilateral relations. The lessons of history are worth remembering. Japan should abide by the promises made so far, abide by the basic faith between the two countries, and prevent the forces trying to undermine China-Japan relations from growing stronger, and work with China to maintain the valuable achievements made in the past 50 years of normalization of diplomatic relations.
Foreign Minister Lin Fangzheng said that Japan and China have broad common interests, great potential for cooperation and broad prospects. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Japan and China. The two sides should strive to develop constructive and stable bilateral relations based on the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries. Japan is willing to work with China to not forget the original intention of normalizing diplomatic relations, maintain frank communication, reduce misunderstandings and misjudgments, properly deal with sensitive issues, and enhance political mutual trust.
The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues of common concern and agreed to continue to communicate.
During the meeting, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi also expressed his position on the recent news about Japan and the United States in China. State Councilor Wang Yi pointed out that Japan will soon host the "Quadian Mechanism" summit of the United States, Japan, India and Australia. What is noticeable and vigilant is that the US leader has not yet made a move, and the so-called argument that Japan and the United States have joined forces to fight against China has become rampant, causing chaos. Japan and the United States are in alliance, while China and Japan have concluded a treaty of peace and friendship. Japan-US bilateral cooperation should not provoke confrontation, nor should it harm China's sovereignty, security and development interests. I hope that Japan will learn from historical lessons, focus on regional peace and stability, and must act cautiously, not take the wrong path of harming neighbors.
