Kyoto Municipal Government revealed that as of May 8, there were about 1.07 million people who received the third dose of the new crown vaccine. Including the first and second doses of vaccines, there are 1.12 million doses of the new crown vaccine in the city (700,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine and 420,000 doses of Moderna vaccine). However, judging from the number of vaccinated people, as of May 10, the third dose vaccination rate was only 54.89%. At the same time, since most citizens choose the Pfizer vaccine, a large amount of Moderna vaccine remains. A total of 315,000 doses of Moderna vaccine are expected to expire on May 20 and 25, of which about 80,000 doses will be discarded due to expiration.
