Due to the hot sales, Apple has been working hard to increase the production of AirPods and AirPods Pro to meet the supply and demand balance. However, due to the recent epidemic, the situation may not be optimistic.
According to the Nikkei News, since the Lunar New Year, Apple's three major AirPods suppliers, Luxshare Precision, Goertek and Inertia, have closed factories. Even if the assembly of AirPods resumes next Monday, as downstream parts factories are still distributed throughout China, parts may still be in short supply.
Japanese media said that under the current conditions, even if AirPods production is resumed, the utilization rate of parts may only reach 50%.
Apple’s goal is to produce up to 45 million AirPods products in the first half of 2020, but AirPods are currently in stock and are basically only available for Apple retail and online stores. Currently, AirPods paired with regular charging cases or wireless charging cases are still expected to ship in one working day, but the AirPods Pro is still out of stock with an estimated delivery date of 4 weeks.
