Myanmar Eastern Shan State, the Daqili Traffic Police Force on the Myanmar-Thailand border issued a notice that in order to reduce the incidence of traffic accidents and protect the lives and property of residents, the city's motor vehicle supervision will be strengthened from September 15, and drivers who violate traffic regulations will be punished in accordance with the law.

Haili resident Nan Yele said that there are many people in Daqili who do not abide by traffic rules, and traffic accidents will occur from time to time. The relevant departments have taken legal publicity actions many times, and those who do not listen to advice should be dealt with in accordance with the law. There have always been many people driving without a license and traveling without a helmet. Only by strengthening traffic supervision can we improve traffic chaos in urban areas.

From January to September 9, 2022, Daqili had a total of 27 traffic accidents, including 8 motorcycle overturning accidents, 16 automobile-motorcycle collisions, and 3 automobile overturning accidents. Data from the 121st police force in Daqili County showed that 25 people died in 27 accidents, one of which was a woman, and the number of injured reached 19, and three of them were women.

In 2020, Daqili had a total of 48 traffic accidents and 27 traffic accidents occurred in 2021. The local traffic police force of Daqili said that the number of motorcycles in the country continues to increase, and there are more and more behaviors of not wearing helmets and driving without a license, and the local traffic law-abiding index has declined a lot.

An insider said that the Daqili traffic police are planning to carry out two raids every day, with the locations being random, the morning raids are from 9:00 to 11:30 in the morning and the afternoon raids are from around 2:30 to 4:00 in the afternoon. For traveling without wearing a hard helmet, driving an unlicensed vehicle, overloading, etc., the traffic police department will deal with it in a manner that is currently investigated and punished.

Previously, the Myanmar authorities revised and released the 2022 traffic regulations, and the fines and criminal law standards have changed. They will be punished with 30,000 Myanmar kyphens in accordance with the law if they do not carry their driver's license, modify the lights, make phone calls while driving, missing front and rearview mirrors of the vehicle, failing to turn on the low beam lights as required, installing street-burning exhaust pipes, and driving a motorcycle without wearing a helmet. In addition, the transportation department may impose a fine of 30,000 to 1.5 million Myanmar Kyats or up to 3 years of fixed-term imprisonment according to the severity of the circumstances.
