Windsor Castle is located in the outskirts of London. It has been part of the British royal family for nearly a thousand years. It was the main residence of Queen Elizabeth II during his lifetime. There is a St. George's Church in Windsor Castle. It was built in the 14th century and is a special church for the British royal family. It has long been used as the venue for royal wedding and funeral ceremonies and royal aristocratic ceremonies. In the early 19th century, a special royal tomb was built in St. George's Church. Since then, most royal members have chosen to be buried in St. George's Church in Windsor Castle instead of Westminster Abbey in London. Currently, there are three British kings buried in the royal tomb, namely George III , George IV and William IV. But in addition to the royal tombs, many British kings such as Henry VIII, , Charles I, and , George V, and other places in the church are buried. Last year, after the death of Prince Philip, the husband of Elizabeth II, his coffin was temporarily housed in the royal tomb in St. George's Church.
Elizabeth II's father George VI After his death in 1952, he was buried in the royal tomb in St. George's Church. But in 1962, Elizabeth II asked someone to build a new tomb in St. George's Church for the late father. However, since there was no additional space available in the church, he chose to build a new adjacent tomb on the side of the main building of the church, which was equivalent to a small outbuilding of the church. This is the Sixth Century Church of King George. The construction cost of the church was £25,000 that year, and it was paid entirely by Elizabeth II. After its completion in 1969, George VI was moved to the funeral. In 2002, George VI's wife and Elizabeth II were buried here after the death of her. Elizabeth II's sister Princess Margaret 's ashes are also here.
Now that the queen has passed away, Prince Philip's coffin will be moved to King George's 6th Century Church and buried with Elizabeth II. Two generations of the royal family will be "reunited" again. (Li Dafei)
