Sony held a new product launch conference at the Shanghai TV Festival
Launched two new system cameras models are
HDC-5500 and HDC-3500
Equipped with a full-domain shutter, supporting 12G-SDI At the 4K transmission
press conference, Keiji Mizuno introduced the global development trends of 4K and the research and development background of new products. Bai Yunyi focused on introducing the functional characteristics of two new products .
HDC-5500 is a new multi-format system camera that can directly output 4K signals using 12G-SDI, and is equipped with a 2/3-inch 4K full-domain shutter and three-piece CMOS sensor, which can achieve excellent image quality in field production in high-definition, 4K and HDR formats.
In addition, it can also install optional software to achieve high frame rate shooting in 2x in 4K mode and 8x in HD mode. The new camera control unit HDCU-5500 used in combination with HDC-5500 was also displayed at the
press conference.

HDC-5500 and HDCU-5500 is connected by a single optical cable without the need for a baseband processor unit. This combination also provides high bit rate (UHB) transmission capability, enabling the transmission of 4K baseband signals in both channels simultaneously.
In addition, after installing the HKC-WL50 wireless option board, the HDC-5500 can be used as a wireless camera, and can also be used in combination with the camera stabilizer.
Through the newly developed signal processing technology between the camera and the camera control unit, the high bit rate (UHB) transmission function can use one optical cable to transmit two camera signals simultaneously, thereby improving the operational flexibility of the camera system. The
4K TRUNK function can efficiently transmit two signals from the HDC-5500 camera system to the control unit; the signal source comes from the "host" HDC-5500 itself, and the second camera can be connected to the 12G-SDI input interface of the HDC-5500. In addition, the 4K teleprompter can also use the UHB transmission function to transmit from the HDCU-5500 to the camera. The HDC3500 and HDCU-3500 launched by

When shooting high-speed pictures, ordinary cameras can easily produce jelly effect , and in venues where flashes are frequently used, ordinary cameras generate flash bands. The whole-domain shutter can effectively solve these two problems. For studio application environments, the whole-domain shutter can avoid the problem of high brightness and flickering of large LED screens.
☞ Next is the DSP processing chip
Although the imager is highlighted at the press conference, the imager and the circuit are inseparable during the design process, and they guarantee an excellent picture. What’s more important is that the two core components of the imager and DSP are independently developed by Sony, so Sony can formulate the research and development direction and performance of DSP based on its own product characteristics to achieve better matching. Most manufacturers purchase and integrate them together, which is one of the reasons why Sony cameras have high-quality image quality.
☞ The third point is that the spectroscopic prism system that supports the BT.2020 color gamut
The physical characteristic of this prism system is that it can transmit more wavelengths of light, thereby realizing the BT.2020 color gamut. Some products that support wide color gamut are not through the physical characteristics of the prism, but are calculated through circuits, and the image quality will be greatly reduced.

For example, this time, Sony has opened the PC interface for the camera system. Users can complete the parameters and settings of multiple cameras and CCUs through the computer, and can also complete batch software upgrades through the computer, saving labor costs and improving work efficiency.
With the continuous introduction of technology and products, and the increasing requirements of end users for image quality and resolution, the update of cameras is inevitable . However, in addition to the camera itself, accessories such as viewfinders and lens adapters are also considerable investments.
Sony takes this into consideration. From 2007 to the present, every new product has been able to match the use of old accessories, and through software upgrades, these accessories can realize new functions, which is equivalent to the user's investment being protected.
