Sun Wenjian said that the peak of travel on the first day of the holiday is expected to be prominent, and the return time in the later period is relatively scattered. The peak travel season for the entire National Day holiday is expected to be from 10:00 to 12:00 on October 1, and the peak traffic volume with possible congestion is expected to reach 54 million vehicles. Congestion is prone to slow down in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Yangtze River Delta and other regions.
In terms of ensuring public transportation during holidays, the Ministry of Transport will improve the guarantee of public transportation operations, strengthen passenger flow analysis, and strengthen the organization and scheduling of operations. For important commercial areas, transportation hubs, scenic spots and other areas with concentrated passenger flow, emergency capacity guarantee services will be strengthened, and diversified service methods such as customized buses will be encouraged.
In terms of cruising taxis, the transportation department will guide local governments to actively take a variety of measures to enrich and improve transportation models, encourage taxi companies to increase the guarantee of transportation capacity, and ensure the supply of transportation capacity during peak hours and night hours.
Sun Wenjian said that the upcoming National Day holiday is the first long holiday after the COVID-19 epidemic is relatively stable this year, and the public is willing to travel. During the holidays, the Ministry of Transport will strengthen operation monitoring, focusing on strengthening operation monitoring of important transportation channels, surrounding roads of tourist attractions, etc., to ensure that relevant situations are dealt with in a timely manner.

Sun Wenjian introduced that the required time for free highway access during this year's "Double Festival" period is from 0:00 on October 1, 2020 to 24:00 on October 8, 2020, a total of 8 days. On ordinary highways, the time when the vehicle passes through the toll lane at the toll station shall prevail, and on the time when the vehicle leaves the toll lane at the exit shall prevail. Sun Wenjian reminds everyone to make plans before driving, especially the expressways shall be based on the time when the vehicle leaves the toll lane of the exit, so there is no need to wait for free passage before 0:00 on October 1st to avoid congestion.
