3Q wars against 10 years later, the competition between 360 and Tencent in the field of consumer Internet has expanded to the industrial Internet battlefield.
Recently, a winning bid announcement released by Jincai.com showed that in the bidding for the construction project of the Agricultural Bank of China enterprise-level network information security operation center, Beijing Qihoo Technology Co., Ltd. (360 company ) won the bid, with a winning amount of 22.068 million. Tencent Cloud Computing (Beijing) Co., Ltd. was also bidding in the same game. Unfortunately, Tencent Cloud did not win the bid.
3Q10 years of competition finally returned to rationality
10 years ago 3Q wars that took place gradually entered history with the development of the Internet, so that many young practitioners have no idea what happened back then.
Baidu Encyclopedia still has records.
It is said that Baidu Encyclopedia introduces that the entanglement between Qihoo 360 and Tencent has been a long history and is vividly called the "3Q war" by the industry. This stems from the "economic fight" between the two sides in 2010. On September 27, 2010, 360 released its newly developed "Privacy Protector", which specifically collects whether QQ software violates user privacy. Subsequently, QQ immediately pointed out that 360 browser was suspected of using pornographic websites to promote it. On November 3, 2010, Tencent announced that it would stop running QQ software on computers with 360 software. Users must uninstall 360 software before logging in to QQ, forcing users to "choose one of two". For their respective interests, the two companies staged a series of Internet wars from 2010 to 2014 and embarked on the road of litigation.
This case, known as the "first case of anti-unfair competition in the Internet industry", is the unfair competition dispute case with the largest litigation subject in the Internet industry and has a significant impact on the country. It is also the first Internet anti-unfair competition case heard by the Supreme People's Court in many years since the issuance of the " Anti-unfair competition Law ". The case itself has attracted the attention of all parties in the industry, users and the legal circles. Some industry insiders believe that litigation itself has promoted the creation of an innovation ecosystem for Chinese Internet companies and also promoted the opening and competition of China's market economy.
Now, the competition between Qihoo 360 and Tencent has entered the industrial Internet battlefield, which has returned to rationality.
360 turns to enterprise services
Since 2020, the results of 360 enterprise services are obvious to all, focusing on marketing clues, customer reach, sales management, efficient office, network security and other scenarios, meeting the needs of enterprises in different development stages such as start-up, growth, and maturity, and empowering enterprise development in multiple dimensions.
In late December 2021, we won bids for important projects one after another, such as the Hebi Technician College Network and Security Talent Training Base, Tianjin Unicom Project, China Unicom Encrypted Attack Detection Platform, Agricultural Bank of China Enterprise-level Network Security Project, etc.
360 Chairman Zhou Hongyi pointed out that 360 will return to enterprise security, and it is necessary to help enterprises and the country "see" the attacks, block attacks and repair systems' capabilities. This is 360's mission and positioning.
Zhou Hongyi said, "Government and enterprise security is an indispensable puzzle in the big security market. When we come in, we are definitely not going to do small businesses. Some people also said, are we going to compete with other companies? Of course not. Entering the enterprise security requires something that must be 360. We provide security services to the party, government, military and enterprises, which is also the mission and positioning of 360."
360's attack on the industrial Internet can also be felt by Zhou Hongyi's behavior of taking off his red T-shirt and wearing a black suit.
Tencent's industrial Internet is fully blooming
In September 2018, Tencent clearly proposed the industrial Internet transformation strategy for the first time, and it has been more than three years since then. In the capital market, more and more investors no longer simply regard Tencent as a social leader, and its digital new infrastructure and industrial Internet sectors have developed into an important part of the new valuation.
Tencent's emphasis on industrial Internet can be a glimpse of the several organizational structure adjustments.
Ma Huateng once pointed out, "The impact of industrial Internet on the economy and society is comprehensive and profound. In the post-epidemic period, we must plan the industrial Internet in the historical tide of a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, focus on promoting it from the height of national strategy, and continuously strengthening the digital economy ."
In 2020, Tencent announced that it would invest 500 billion yuan to further layout of new infrastructure and industrial Internet. Whether from the increase in capital expenditure projects in the financial report or the public news that big data centers in various places have successively opened services, Tencent’s investment in new digital infrastructure is accelerating as scheduled.
According to China Institute of Information and Communications Technology data, the domestic public cloud market is expected to maintain a high growth rate of more than 30%. At this stage, Tencent maintains high capital investment and focuses on cloud infrastructure, and its medium- and long-term profitability is expected to continue to improve with the scale effect.
In the annual research report of Gartner, an international authoritative research institution, Tencent Cloud is currently the only Chinese manufacturer that has been shortlisted for two consecutive years. Gartner specifically pointed out that based on long-term investment in independent research and development and innovation, Tencent Cloud Database has shown obvious advantages in helping domestic databases to migrate and replace, and will continue to maintain the lead in the future trend of domestic production.
The first 20 years were the era when the consumer Internet laid the foundation. In the first 20 years, the 3Q war was an important node. As the next 20 years begin, Tencent and 360 will compete in the same field in the industrial Internet field. The joint output of digital technology will enable the acceleration of B-end services and promote the deeper integration of the digital economy, the social economy and the real economy.
From the vicious competition in 2010 to the benign competition in 2021, the competition in the Internet industry has gradually matured.
