"This is your medicine, and I will tell us what needs there are. We have always been there."
On July 20, at the Hefei No. 8 Middle School Mingchuan High School resettlement site located in Feixi County, Anhui, an old man with a difficult face found a volunteer, gestured something in a verbal way, and pointed at his stomach. Through communicating with his wife, the volunteers learned that the elderly had poor stomach and felt unbearable pain after coming to the resettlement site. The volunteers immediately contacted the infirmary of the school. When they learned that the supplies were in short supply, they went to a nearby pharmacy to buy medicine on site to solve the elderly’s urgent needs.
There are many such ordinary and heartwarming things in the placement site.
Affected by continuous heavy rainfall, the water level of many dikes at Sanhe Town, Feixi County exceeded the guarantee line, and the flood prevention pressure was severe. In order to protect the lives, health and safety of the people, on July 19, according to the county's special flood prevention and disaster relief work arrangements, the affected people in Sanhe Town were urgently transferred to Mingchuan High School in Hefei No. 8 Middle School for centralized resettlement.
At the same time, the Youth League Feixi County Party Committee actively responded to the call and quickly formed a youth volunteer service team. In the early morning of the 19th, the first batch of 30 volunteers gathered quickly to Mingchuan High School. Here, the volunteers have set their posts and responsibilities to deliver thoughtful services to the people.
After the evacuated people arrived, the volunteers immediately guided and registered their information, managed personnel entry and exit, and patiently carried out emotional comfort; in terms of logistics support, volunteers assisted the school to deliver food to the people every day, received drinking water, food, quilts and other rescue materials sent by the outside world, and arranged a dedicated person to be responsible for distribution and management to ensure that the people's basic living needs are met.
In addition, for the elderly, the disabled, the teenagers and children, the volunteers also provide key inquiries and help, and accompany them to chat with each other.
"A new batch of supplies is here. If you have time, please help unload the goods." Late at night on the 20th, the volunteers were having supper. When they heard the call, they put down their bowls and chopsticks and rushed to the square outside the resettlement site.
