CMA CMA CGM issued an announcement on the official website on February 16 regarding the applicable date of export freight. It clarified that from April 1 (the actual sailing date), the freight will be applicable to all routes exported from China (except North American routes). The date is the actual sailing date.
The following is the full text of the announcement:
For a long time, there have been many standards for shipping applicable dates in the market. According to the market supply and demand relationship and the specific regulations of each shipping company, the freight may be applicable to the actual sailing date/actual arrival date/actual booking date, etc. In recent years, due to frequent late openings and large market price fluctuations, the applicable dates for freight charges have become even more confusing.
CMA CGM issued an announcement this time, which clarified that for China's export routes except North American routes, the applicable dates for freight rates refer to the actual sailing date. It can be understood that: The agreed price is only applicable when the ship is shipped within the agreed time period. If the agreed time period is exceeded, the possibility of price changes does not rule out.. The North American route may not be included in this category yet due to the well-known congestion and shipping schedule disorders.
