It is in the westernmost part of the county, passing through a beautiful large reservoir and surrounding the winding mountain road. Lao Yao is the owner of this beautiful hotel. When he went to Germany to stay in a country B&B in 2006, he opened the door and saw the traffic in the countryside, large grasslands, villages and leisurely people. At that time, Lao Yao was thinking that he could also find a place to build a house in the countryside and live the life he wanted.
Lao Yao’s wife was originally from Tonglu and has always loved the landscape of Tonglu. Last year, he and his younger brother Zhang Ning, who runs a gallery, followed the route with ridges and reservoirs on Google Maps and along the winding mountain road found a small village called Waifan Village Wawu outside Fenshui Town, Tonglu. Almost all the young people in the village have gone out to work, leaving behind some dilapidated old houses and a village that is completely undisturbed by the outside world. He and his juniors rented an old house from a villager and more than 100 acres of terraced fields on the mountain, and wanted to build this place into their inner art tribe.

At first, Lao Yao and Zhang Ning wanted to build a public space where they could live and create art. In their free time, they would invite some painters to sketch and communicate, and they could rest and live here. Later, they thought that they would not be able to come here all the time. After all, you still have your own job when you live here. Following the craze of B&Bs, this old house was transformed into a B&B that can be opened to the public.
Lao Yao himself said that according to the current location of the B&B, it is a risky move to place the B&B here. Compared with the current location of other B&Bs in Tonglu, Zhangjiadian is really remote and has no reputation at all, but because of this, Quiet enough and independent enough, it is the best place for artists and people who like quiet to create and relax.
Legend of the Mountains was transformed from an original dilapidated farmer's house. During the renovation of the B&B, Lao Yao and the others did not destroy the original layout and structure of the house. They maintained the rammed earth appearance by repairing the exterior walls and blended it into the original village, and redesigned and decorated the interior.
The main body of the original two-story old house was transformed into three guest rooms. At the same time, a new independent glass room with full view was built next to the old house, with a total of four guest rooms. Each guest room has its own balcony with a view. The entire B&B can accommodate up to 8 adults and 4 children, so if a few familiar families can book the entire B&B for a relaxing weekend away from the world.
Lao Yao also transformed the original pigsty into a restaurant and bathroom supporting guest rooms. The open restaurant here is fully equipped, and Lao Yao said that he hopes that guests here can cook their own meals and fully enjoy the lifestyle of a mountain aborigine. The B&B can order some seasonal ingredients from the mountains for guests, and the housekeeper will also assist with cleaning. Of course, if you really don’t want to cook, the restaurant here also provides local farm dishes.
Walking up the B&B for 10 minutes is the best viewing spot, where you can watch the sunrise and sunset in the early morning and evening.

One of the highlights of the mountain legend is the outdoor swimming pool outside the B&B. The swimming pool is embedded in the mountain, and a clear spring is formed by the water from the mountain. Lao Yao and his younger brother who opened the gallery have always wanted to build this place into an art tribe, a space and platform for painters to integrate into nature and create paintings. Therefore, Legend of the Mountain regularly invites some well-known painters across the country to sketch and communicate.
Of course, this art tribe wants to do much more than that. Lao Yao and his junior brother decided to exchange paintings for housing to attract the attention and sharing of more young painters. They initiated: If you are a painter, you can take the initiative to contact them and share your works with them. Lao Yao will judge and review them according to their own aesthetic standards. If they pass the review, then you can come here for free. During painting creation and stay, you need to leave a piece of your own painting in the B&B as a gift.
Lao Yao said that this is the paradise in his heart, with no development and no pollution.
He and his junior brother also specially rented nearly twenty acres of terraced fields in the valley at the foot of the house, and restored the terraced fields that had been abandoned for more than 20 years into paddy fields, planting fruits, vegetables and organic rice. They also planted 10,000 acres of terraced fields. There are many peach trees, and when spring comes next year, the flowers will bloom, and the peach blossoms will be everywhere, and it will be a different scene.
