In July this year, Jiuzhou Customs, a subsidiary of Gongbei Customs, discovered an abnormality in a parcel named "Citrus Jasmine" while supervising a batch of international mail sent from Japan.
After inspection by on-site customs officers, it was found that there were 2 Marlboro brand electronic cigarette cartridges in the parcel. In the next two months, Jiuzhou Customs successively investigated and dealt with 30 cases of smuggling e-cigarette cartridges and cigarettes into the country through postal parcels, and successively seized international mail items with declared items named "chocolate", "snacks", "jigsaw blocks" and "office supplies". There were a total of 70.5 e-cigarette cartridges and cigarettes, including 64.5 e-cigarette cartridges involved in the case, involving brands such as Marlboro and HEETS; and 6 cigarettes, involving brands such as Marlboro, MEVIUS and Seven Stars.
Customs reminds that e-cigarette cartridges, as new tobacco products, should be supervised as cigarettes. The sender and receiver of postal items must truthfully declare the name and quantity of the items and accept customs supervision. False declarations or concealment of declarations may face customs penalties.
