[Global Times Special Correspondent Yu Feng] After the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Pelosi came to Taiwan, some people on the island claimed that the People's Liberation Army drones had appeared over Kinmen. On the 24th, another video of the "Kinmen Defense Command" sentry shot by a mainland drone was circulated on the cross-strait network. The always tough-talking Taiwan military admitted this time.
According to a report from Taiwan's China Times Electronic News on 24, during the mainland army exercise, there were rumors that PLA drones flew over Kinmen and Matsu. A high-definition video posted on Weibo that day showed a drone flying over the Lieyu post in Kinmen County. The faces of two Taiwanese soldiers were clearly visible. One of them was on guard with a gun, and the other was holding a camera. There was also a video that captured two Taiwanese garrison troops throwing stones in an attempt to drive away the drones.
Different from the previous PLA Dongfeng missiles that penetrated the island and refused to acknowledge whether the troops were alive or dead, the "Kinmen Defense Command" responded on the evening of the 24th that the Bold Guards of the Lieyu Guard Brigade discovered the drone at about 18:00 on the 16th, saying that it was flying at high altitude. The long-range zoom lens captured the defense area. During this period, the officers and soldiers on duty remained highly vigilant and adopted procedures such as identification, response, and notification. The surrounding officers and soldiers at rest threw stones and disturbed the area, and the drone immediately flew away. The "Ministry of Defense" stated that this drone was for civilian use, but some Taiwanese media believed it was a military drone . Some Taiwanese media said that this photo looks like it has clearly "trespassed" to a distance of about a few meters from the Taiwan military sentry post.
Dadan Island, formerly known as Dadan Island , is about 12 kilometers away from Kinmen Island and about 4.4 kilometers away from Xiamen Island . It is known as the "frontline among the front lines" from Erdan Island, which is about 800 meters away. On March 1, 2019, Bold Island officially opened for island sightseeing, with a maximum of 150 tourists per day. At present, Taiwanese troops are still stationed on the island, and the "Coast Patrol Department" and "Police Department" police are assisting in defense.
