China Taiwan Network According to Taiwan's "China Times Electronic News" report on February 12, the China Airlines Pilot Union in Taoyuan, Taiwan launched a strike without warning during the Spring Festival. It was originally a purely labor-management strike. The dispute turned into a political struggle between the "New Trend Faction" and the "Main Congress" within the Democratic Progressive Party. Wu Zijia, chairman of the green media Formosa Electronic News, criticized that "Executive President" Su Zhenchang and the "New Trend Department" wanted to remove political obstacles for Taoyuan Mayor Zheng Wencan and wanted to use Taiwan's China Airlines strike to kill "Transportation Minister" Lin Jialong.
The China Airlines branch of the Taoyuan City Pilots Professional Union announced the start of a strike during the Spring Festival. This is the second strike since China Airlines’ flight attendants went on strike in 2016. It is also the first pilot strike in Taiwan. The pilot union issued a statement criticizing China Airlines for having no intention of negotiating with labor on issues such as overworked flights. But what was originally a simple strike turned into a political struggle between the "New Trend Faction" and the "Main Congress" within the Democratic Progressive Party.
