China Taiwan Network, May 11th Taiwan's Zhongtian TV station held a TV debate for the Kuomintang chairman election yesterday (10th). Six candidates called for unity in unison! Hao Longbin invited the candidates to sign a "Unity Commitment Letter", and the other five candidates all signed in support. Hao said after the meeting that the deadline for the "Solidarity Commitment" is not just May 20 in the first round, but a "permanent commitment." Pan Weigang said that the party cannot fight each other, and all candidates must be self-disciplined, otherwise they will only make others laugh.
According to Taiwan’s China Times, Hao Longbin’s “Unity Commitment” has three solidarity points: first, unity and self-discipline, promising to use public press releases to support positive elections, and calling on supporters not to create or spread negative propaganda and whispers; second, Unite with the outside world. No matter who is elected in the future, we must fully assist and work together to win the 2018 county and mayor election; thirdly, unite with the pan-blue and want the blue sky to reappear. The Kuomintang must find its good friends in the pan-blue, and the future party chairman must do his best to find them. Supporters of the New Party, People First Party and others went home.
Hao Longbin said that there were many negative attacks on the party chairman election, and the content was more vicious than the DPP's attack on the Kuomintang. Is this still an intra-party election? How can the Kuomintang be united when everyone is destroying each other? How can we fight against the DPP? There are many negative propaganda and rumors, and the intensified election situation will definitely tear the Kuomintang apart. Every candidate should work hard for "unity and harmony" and cannot spread their hands and say: "This is a personal behavior of supporters, I can't help it!" Therefore, he invited all candidates to sign a "Unity Pledge".
Han Guoyu said that there is no problem with unity and he is very happy to sign. "Even if we unite, we may not be saved, let alone split?" The party's unity is the most important. He has firm confidence in the Kuomintang and "firm confidence in the personality of Brother Long Bin." Hong Xiuzhu said that everyone feels the same and must unite. She believes that all candidates will serve the party after the election and there will be no possibility of splitting. James Chim said that signing is easy, but unity is not a slogan, unity requires hard work, unity is not harmony, and tolerance is not regardless of right or wrong. To achieve this in the future, we must start from the candidates themselves and strictly demand their subordinates. Wu Dunyi said that he fully agreed with the joint statement signed by Hao Longbin that the election should be restored to cleanliness and purity. After the election, everyone must be united sincerely. If the Kuomintang is still divided in the opposition, how can we talk about the 2018 election? It will be even more difficult in 2020.
