Hubei has become a major province in the papermaking industry, Xiaogan, Jingzhou, Huanggang3 cities each have their own strengths
On January 28, 2022, Wuzhou Special Paper announced that the company signed the "Wuzhou Special Pulp and Paper Integration Project Investment Contract" and other agreements with Hanchuan City on January 26, 2022.
Quzhou Wuzhou Special Paper Co., Ltd. will invest 17.3 billion in the Paper Products Industrial Park in Xinhe Town, Hanchuan City, to build an integrated pulp and paper project covering an area of 4,483 acres and with an annual output of 4.49 million tons. Construction will start during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, and it will be completed and put into production in about 6-8 years.
This is another large-scale papermaking project in Hubei that has invested over 10 billion in recent years.
Hubei is rich in Yangtze River coastline, tidal flats, and lakes, and has two major resources, fresh water and raw materials needed for papermaking. Previously, the scale of paper mills in Hubei was small. Except for the Hanyang Paper Mill, there were scattered small-scale paper mills in other cities.
With the increasing pressure from national environmental protection policies, energy conservation and emission reduction, many small paper mills have closed down. The growing industry giants have taken a fancy to Hubei's resources and have come here one after another.
From the 13th Five-Year Plan period to the present, Hubei's Xiaogan, Jingzhou, Huanggang and other places have introduced several large papermaking projects with investments exceeding tens of billions. Let's take a look.
Xiaogan: Central China's largest household paper base, now starting to lay out industrial paper
Xiaogan is a prefecture-level city within the Wuhan urban circle. It is located in the northwest of Wuhan City and is on the Wuhan-Shiyan automobile industry corridor. However, compared with Xiangyang, Shiyan, Suizhou and other places, Xiaogan's automobile industry is not well-known.
In fact, Sanjiang Aerospace Group in Xiaogan has been involved in complete vehicles very early, and also plans to introduce Renault to produce complete vehicles, but it has not achieved scale effects.
Many people may be unfamiliar with Xiaogan's industrial business card. In fact, all kinds of toilet paper that are closely related to our lives are basically made by Xiaogan. In today's Xiaogan, the country's four major manufacturing industry giants: Jinhongye, Vinda , Hengan , Zhongshun, are all gathered together.
Xiaogan's papermaking industry has exceeded 13 billion and will reach 50 billion in the future. However, Xiaogan mainly focuses on household paper. Now Hanchuan has introduced a new project with an investment of 17.3 billion and begun to lay out industrial paper.
Xiaogan's papermaking industry started early in Hubei, and is now developing in an all-round way and expanding into more fields.
Jingzhou: There are already three papermaking projects exceeding 10 billion, and additional investments are still being made.
Jingzhou started its layout more than 10 years ago Rongcheng Paper . In the following years, major manufacturing giants have spotted this valuable land and have come to invest and build factories one after another, and each one is larger in scale than the last.
The first industrial project in Jingzhou with an investment of over 10 billion was the paper mill. In 2017, a papermaking enterprise originally introduced by Gong'an County was revitalized by Shanying Paper , and subsequently invested more than 10 billion to build a base in Gong'an County. Now 3 production lines have been built, and 2 more production lines are about to start construction.
Shanying is the first large-scale industrial project in Jingzhou. After more than a year of completion, it has become a major taxpayer in Jingzhou.
Following Shanying, Nine Dragons Paper invested heavily in Jianli . While the first phase was under construction, the expansion project also started. Nine Dragons will invest more than 20 billion in Jianli Bailuo Industrial Park.
Xianhe Paper has also laid out and Shishou , and the investment will exceed 10 billion. Preliminary work such as land leveling and project approval is currently underway.
So far, Jingzhou has more than three tens of billions of paper-making projects, all of which have been launched within the past five years. Jingzhou will also form a new large industry.
Moreover, Jingzhou’s main development direction is industrial paper, and it will soon become the “Industrial Paper Capital of Central China” .
Huanggang: Taking a different approach, focusing on office paper
Huanggang is also a member of Wuhan City Circle . After the Hankou Paper Mill in Wuhan was acquired by Chenming Paper, Chenming moved its main production base to Huanggang.
Huanggang Chenming Paper, established in 2008, is located on the north bank of the Yangtze River in Huanggang. The planned total investment is more than 20 billion, including pulping, viscose fiber, cogeneration , supporting chemical industry, ports and other projects.
The first phase of Huanggang Chenming Paper has been completed, and the second phase was launched in March last year. The investment in the second phase of is 12.5 billion yuan. After completion, the annual output value of is 16.2 billion yuan, with profits and taxes of 4.8 billion yuan. This is also the largest industrial project in Huanggang's history.
The Wuzhou Special Paper mentioned at the beginning of the article has settled in Hanchuan, which is good news for Xiaogan, but not for Huanggang. Wuzhou Special Paper initially signed a contract with Wuxue City (a county-level city under Huanggang). However, now that it has encountered difficulties in advancing the project, the investment has just relocated to Hanchuan.
Huanggang specializes in office paper, which can be considered a new approach in Hubei. just missed the Wuzhou Special Paper, which can be regarded as a pity.
In addition to Wuhan, Hubei has formed a three-legged pattern of Xiaogan household paper, Jingzhou industrial paper, and Huanggang office paper . Moreover, large projects exceeding tens of billions are constantly entering, and the paper industry may become Hubei's new industrial pillar.
