After failing in 's "nine-in-one" election , although the DPP is still gritting its teeth and persevering, the direction of the transformation on the island can no longer be reversed. After Tsai Ing-wen resigned as chairman of the Democratic Progressive Party, a power battle immediately set off within the Democratic Progressive Party. No one could integrate the power of the Democratic Progressive Party and launch a counterattack against KMT . Seeing that the approval rating is getting lower and lower, some people within the DPP have begun to seek change to win back the trust of the people.
A few days ago, Zheng Wencan, mayor of Taoyuan of the DPP, presided over a review meeting for the DPP's "nine-in-one" election, and invited representatives from all walks of life, including industrial and commercial associations, fellow townspeople and religion on the island to hold a symposium. Zheng Wencan said at the meeting that the failure of this election was caused by many factors, among which the "anti-China and Taiwan protection" card made voters hesitate. He claimed that "anti-China and Taiwan" should show that Taiwan must also maintain "confidence and determination in freedom and democracy" when facing pressure. However, because it is understood on the Internet as a "fear card" and a "war card", many people are uneasy. Therefore, the DPP has lost a large number of votes from middle-aged voters.

Zheng Wencan believes that in future cross-strait discourse, the DPP needs to make some adjustments to let everyone understand that the ruling line of the Taiwan authorities is to "pursuing cross-strait peace and stability" and will not make a rash move because of being "supported" by Western countries. Under such a structure, voters can regain confidence in the DPP.
In fact, not only the current DPP officials have this idea, but the former DPP officials who have left and retired also think that playing the "anti-China and Taiwan protection" card is a mistake. After the election, former DPP chairman Shi Ming-teh sent an open letter to leaders of Taiwan’s political parties, including Tsai Ing-wen, suggesting that the Taiwan authorities withdraw all the troops of Kinmen and Matsu and set up the "Golden Horse Peace Zone" to avoid war with the mainland.

After Lai Ching-te announced his candidacy for the chairman of the Democratic Progressive Party, Lin Yizheng, former deputy secretary-general of the Democratic Progressive Party, claimed that Lai Ching-te is a "Taiwan independence", which has been determined, but in cross-strait policies, we cannot cross the red line of the mainland. He also said that the DPP's great defeat in the election war proves that "anti-China and Taiwan" is useless, and the DPP should focus on "protecting Taiwan" rather than "anti-China".
Although the DPP’s bigwigs spoke out, pointing out the drawbacks of the “anti-China and Taiwan protection” card, there are still some politicians in the DPP that are obsessed with it and hope that the people can continue to support the “anti-China protection” policy. DPP legislator Chen Tingfei believes that there is no need to review the "anti-China and Taiwan protection" card, and voters have no structure to vote for DPP, mainly because of the words of Qiu Guozheng, the head of Taiwan's defense department. She said that some time ago, Qiu Guozheng proposed to extend his military service, but was "misunderstood" by young people and thought he would be sent to the front line, but this was not the case. Qiu Guozheng's words were too brief, and at the same time they were "political" and did not allow the public to truly understand the next policy of the Taiwan authorities.

Chen Tingfei's words were really too self-righteous. The Taiwanese people have never had any "misunderstanding" about "anti-China and Taiwan protection". Since the DPP came to power, the quality of life of Taiwanese people has been much worse than before. Not only is there a shortage of medical drugs, but fruits and aquatic products are unsalable, and even basic electricity and water use cannot be met. All of this is the consequence of the Taiwan authorities' "anti-China Protection Taiwan" card.

DPP authorities for their own political interests. Regardless of the lives and death of the people, they have constantly provoked cross-strait confrontation, causing continued tension in the Taiwan Strait. Some young people on the island are even unwilling to get married and have children because of concerns about war. Not to mention, the Taiwan authorities also want to extend military service and send young people to the battlefield. If the DPP really wants to win back its support, it is not enough to just change the cross-strait discourse. It needs to take practical actions to make the people of Taiwan feel at ease.
