In 1987, Jiang Ching-kuo, who was already terminally ill, announced the lifting of martial law on Taiwan's main island and Penghu, but Kinmen and Matsu and other places are not included in the lifting scope because they are front-line areas. This aroused dissatisfaction among the people in Kinmen and other places, and also brought Chen Cangjiang's opportunity to enter politics.

In 1996, Chen Cangjiang officially left the Kuomintang and joined the DPP. In 2001, he represented the DPP in election as a public opinion representative of the Taiwan legislative body. It was not until 2009 that Chen Cangjiang re-represented the DPP to participate in the election, and his goal was second to become a Kinmen County Councilor. False political slogans are just lies fabricated by the DPP and others in order to gain political benefits. These lies cannot improve the lives of the people on Taiwan’s island at all. People's livelihoodism should be the greatest consensus between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait.
