One sunny morning, we met Liu Pan.
The director in 1984 won the awards for the second Silk Road Film Festival and Hangzhou International Animation Festival. It is logical that he can be arrogant, but in fact, Liu Pan is so low-key that he didn't even have time to organize his hairstyle.

"I'm so busy. Now I go to bed at 2 o'clock every day." Liu Pan said that there are too many things to deal with before "The World of Ape Creation" is released, and there is no time to pay attention to anything else.
Family genes of technical directors
In the past six months, "Ape Creation World" has participated in many industry film meetings. Everyone feels that it is "very good", especially in terms of animation effects, and has been praised repeatedly.

Liu Pan is also positioned as a "technical director".
"My grandfather is a radio engineer. In the 1980s, he assembled the TV himself. All the TVs in our house were assembled by him, and the parts were bought by himself. In the 1990s, our family had a big brother, which was also assembled by my grandfather." Liu Pan felt that if he gave him enough time, his grandfather could also make an iPhone.

Liu Pan was born in such a family with "technical genes".
In 2003, he entered the Animation Department of the School of Design and Arts of Sichuan Normal University.
Many people choose to go to the arts and sports because of poor academic performance.
But Liu Pancha is not. He has been receiving professional art training since the fifth grade and has been attending art training schools.

"Relatively speaking, my basic skills are relatively solid."
After Liu Pan was engaged in this industry, he found that some domestic cartoon production was very bad. "Those who are scolded online, the reputation of making animation is similar to that of the Chinese national football team."
His professional direction is actually a beauty editor. He learns technology entirely because he wants to make the film well, and then study technology, and later he gradually becomes a technical type.
"The Return of the Great Sage" is a phenomenon. Most Chinese comics fail

Speaking of the nominations received at the Maritime Silk Road Film Festival, Liu Panlian said "unexpectedly", after all, he had a head-on fight with Tian Xiaopeng of "The Return of the Great Sage".
"At present, there are some signs of domestic comics, and signs of development in a good way, but you said that from the current videos, I think it can only be considered a phenomenon."

In Liu Pan's mind, the production of Chinese comics is still excellent. Apart from Tian Xiaopeng's October Digital, there are only a few companies such as Nanjing Force, Global Digital, and Chasing Light.
"In essence, there has not been a complete change. Take "Little Door God" as an example. We have watched this movie a long time ago. In terms of the story, its story is a bit scattered and I want to say too much. People can't remember it after reading it. Similarly, Kung Fu Panda actually has Chinese elements, but it is very simple and simple. It can remember as much as others as you can remember, but you must remember one thing. That is Kung Fu Panda. Chinese comics have the ability to write scripts and have the ability to arrange stories, and there is a significant gap between them and foreigners."

Liu Pan thinks that this is the core of most Chinese comic works failing.
Technically, Liu Pan believes that most domestic companies are "can be seen at first sight". Except for Hollywood animation blockbusters, the technical process indicators are similar.
"For example, in "The World of Ape Creation", we have several important technical points. The first is expression. We spent a long time studying it. The second is hair, and the entire image rendering. In fact, everyone's focus is the same."
About "The World of Ape Creation"

vs. "The World of Ape Creation", this time "The World of Ape Creation" tries to simplify the story, and from the perspective of children, considering things and handling things in the way of children.
Liu Pan believes that "they use their thinking to look at the problem, the solution may be a bit strange, and some children's own reasons are also in it."

Two years ago, the Age of Divine Paintings got the script of "Ape Creation World". It originally planned to make a series, but it was later changed to the movie version.
"In the early preparation, we drew a total of 1,800-2,000 storyboards, and later about 40% were deleted, leaving 1,200 storyboards." Liu Pan said that these storyboards made each character come to life and come alive.
In order to make the little male protagonist more meticulous, Liu Pan's team optimized the entire production process during the early design. Since there are many emotional scenes in the film and rich expressions are needed to express them, they have made hundreds of basic expressions.

"We do the post-production, using professional computers to process images, a total of 110,000 frames, and the calculation time will take 1.2 million hours." Liu Pan made an analogy. If we use an ordinary home computer for calculation, it will take about 100 years.
"For the lines, the first version of the dialogue was drawn up by Teacher Huang Zhuomin, and we will adjust the parts later." Liu Pan said that in terms of lines, try to be as close to the earth as possible, such as "nature is willful", "How did I know there is such a heavy-tasting beast."

In terms of dubbing, "The World of Ape Creation" invited the well-known voice actor Lu Peiyu from Taiwan to join. "She also has some of her own opinions and adjustments to some lines when matching on the spot, but these will be adjusted only after communication and confirmation in advance."
box office efforts, and she looks forward to PK

pixar founder John Lasseter is Liu Pan's idol.
"He himself is the director and the producer. Some of his ideas have a great impact on me."
Liu Pan's favorite Pixar is "Finding Nemo", which will be released in China this summer, and Liu Pan himself has a film released in the summer.
When asked about the feeling of playing against the idol, Liu Pan said, "It's better not to bump into it, haha, I'm actually looking forward to it."

January 23, the debut work will be on the big screen. When asked about box office expectations, Liu Pan felt that this time the filming process encountered "Kung Fu Panda 3" and "Bears in the Haunted", which happened to be the same as the best anime.
"I can only say that I didn't expect it. If I said that the box office was very confident, it wouldn't sound realistic. But you said that there was no confidence at all, our film also reached this stage and we must fight." Liu Pan hopes that more Fujian fans can enter the cinema, after all, this is the first 3D animation work in Fujian.
