According to Reuters on May 8, the Nepalese government announced that Kami Rita Sherpa, the famous mountaineering guide of Nepal, successfully reached the world's highest peak for the 26th time on May 7, setting a world record for the most personal climbing Mount Everest that he has always maintained.

The director of the Tourism Bureau of Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, said on the 8th: "Kami broke his own record and set a new world record for mountaineering."
It is reported that on May 7, 52-year-old Kami led 10 other Sherpa climbers along the traditional southeast ridge route to climb the peak at 3.86 meters above sea level.
Sherpa is an indigenous people in the Himalayas. For many people who yearn to climb Mount Everest, the word "Sherpa" has become synonymous with mountaineering guides.
Kami has served as a mountaineering guide since 1992.
In 1994, 24-year-old Kami climbed Mount Everest for the first time. In May 2017, he climbed Mount Everest for the 21st time, sharing the world record of climbing Mount Everest with Apa Sherpa and Puba Tasi Sherpa. In May 2019, Kami climbed Mount Everest twice in a month and set a new record. On May 15, he reached the summit with 15 climbers from China; on May 21, he led 11 climbers from India to the summit again.

Kami said in an interview in 2019, "Every time I climb a mountain, I treat it as sincere as the first time. When a customer successfully reaches the top, I will be particularly happy. I believe that breaking the record is just by the way."
This year, Nepal has issued 316 licenses to climb Mount Everest. With more and more aspiring climbers coming, the demand for mountaineering guides has become unprecedented.
Statistics show that since humans first successfully climbed Mount Everest in 1953, a total of 10,657 people have reached the summit so far, many of whom have reached the summit many times, but 311 people unfortunately died during the climb of Mount Everest.
