Kantorec has a smaller role

In the 1930 edition of the classic, Cantorec was behind Paul and his friends’ journey to fate. In the 2022 version, Paul (played by Felix Camiller)'s backstory is kept to a minimum, and he enters the army by lying by forging his father's signature. Authoritative figures still exist, inspiring young men to take every risk to the frontline to maintain their integrity, and despite the indescribable horror of the war, it does not start in the classroom. The audience did not see what drove Paul to join the war, as the focus was more on the devastating impact of the war on young people.
Kate's Death
Stanislaus Kaczynsky, or everyone calls him Kate, the influence on Paul is the most beneficial. His friendship was the crutch that supported him forward, even though he suffered mental and physical torture every day. After an indescribable horror, Paul felt so disconnected from his emotions and the world that he could not maintain a healthy relationship with anyone who hadn’t been on the front lines with him, let alone establish. Kate is one of the few people Paul respected and found solace, and the connection between them becomes even more heartbreaking when Kate dies at the end of the book, not even in close combat. Kate was hit by shrapnel and suffered minor injuries. Paul sent him to the doctor's way, and Kate suffered fatal injuries - a shrapnel pierced into his brain and died on the spot. In the movie, Kate's death environment is slightly different, although they have the same devastating effects. In the movie, Kate was shot and killed by a local farmer's child.
The Death of Paul
Anyone who has read this book should know that Paul, the core character of "No War on the West Front", died at the end of the story. This subtle detail fully illustrates the author's most important argument: Paul found more peace in death than when he was alive.In the 2022 version of the story, Paul is forced to fight his comrades in the final battle, and he is fatally wounded and dies after a fierce close-range battle with his enemies. In the book, Paul's death is even more sad and full of layers of plots. He was shot dead while reaching out to catch a butterfly. The most accurate symbol of peace and beauty, while Paul was deprived of his life.
Paul did not get a leave permit in the movie
