60 years ago, a group of young members responded to the call, landed on the island with their passion and reclaimed land, and used their youth and sweat to cultivate the "land reclamation spirit" of "hard work, hard work, selfless dedication, pioneering and innovation".

Isolated Island New Life
"The bamboo shoots I ate at noon were bought from Jiaojiang. Because of the fog on the sea, the ship was delayed, and it was more than two hours late." Xu Dingshou, the 92-year-old first-generation land reclamation team member, and his 85-year-old wife Zhou Yincui had lunch a bit late.
In the fog, the towering land reclamation monument is still clearly visible. Those youthful years and struggles have also appeared one by one with the old man's story.
In early 1955, the Kuomintang army retreated from Dachen Island to Taiwan, robbed more than 10,000 island residents, leaving behind a devastated deserted island. Since 1956, five batches of 467 young people have responded to the call of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League to "build the Great Motherland Dachen Island" and have been passionate about land reclamation.

. The ship is the only means of transportation to and from the mainland to the island. Zhou Yincui said that more than 60 years ago, they abandoned their young children and, as the second group of land reclamation team members, resolutely rushed to Dachen Island from Yongjia, Wenzhou. At that time, I was still riding in a small wooden boat, and it took more than 6 hours to arrive.
"The road is uneven, the lights are unclear, the phone is not working, the boat is on and off." This rumor made Zhou Yincui remember it deeply. The members of the land reclamation team made oaths: "There are one hundred difficulties, overcome one hundred; there are one thousand difficulties, overcome one thousand."
The road to land reclamation is extremely difficult. The team members should develop land, plant crops, and develop animal husbandry. "Everyone is carrying heavy work, such as carrying manure is the most tiring. The man can carry 120 kilograms, and I can carry 100 kilograms. I can carry barefoot and step higher and lower, but I never complain about being tired." Zhou Yincui said.

In addition to the harsh conditions, dangers can be seen everywhere. At that time, the island was covered with landmines buried by the Kuomintang troops, and later a last resort was used: stock more livestock, which could detonate landmines.
After several years of hard struggle, the island has established a comprehensive aquatic processing plant, seafood soy sauce plant, dairy processing plant, brick and tile factory, hardware repair and decoration plant, etc., with a total economic income of more than 100,000 yuan.
The island is poor in soil, lack of fresh water, and typhoons raging. The reclamation team members forced themselves to pioneer the wilderness with bare hands, laying the first green for the Dachen, and slowly regaining vitality. More than 60 years have passed, and the pine and cypress trees planted back then have become lush.
The 467 members of the land reclamation team on the island have also established a deep friendship with each other, and many male and female team members have tied the knot because of this. The ever-changing world has also become a witness to their love.

The most beautiful and sturdy house on the island is the school. Whenever a typhoon hits, this is also a disaster relief resettlement site for residents on the island.
In comparison, ordinary houses will press large stones on the tiles to prevent them from being blown away by typhoons.
1988, , who was only 17 years old, went to Dachen Island to teach, and he taught for more than 30 years. "I am the child who went out of Dachen Island, and there is a friendship that I can't bear to leave." Weng Lifen said.
There was a girl in the school who had never laughed since her father went out to sea to fish and died.Weng Lifen felt very distressed, so she called the child home, wiped her face clean, tied up her beautiful braids, and prepared some small gifts for her from time to time... Under everyone's care, the girl's smile was finally found.

Due to the decrease in fishery resources, the population has been transferred to production and migrated, and the number of students on the island has also begun to drop sharply. Weng Lifen and his teachers began to explore special education. From introducing and carrying out windsurfing team cultural education to cooperating with the establishment of the Dachendao Training Point of the "Red School Institution" Training Institute of the Zhejiang Provincial Party School and the Dachendao Cadre College in Taizhou, in the words of the school teachers, Weng Lifen is still constantly "reclamating wasteland".
As night came, the lights were lit on Dachen Island, and Wang Haiqiang hurried out to inspect a line. He is the descendant of the old reclamation team member and the secretary of the Party branch of the State Grid Dachen Power Supply Station.
In 1987, 19-year-old Wang Haiqiang returned to Dachen Island as the "second generation of reclamation" and became an electrician. There are about 400 telephone poles on the island, and Wang Haiqiang and his colleagues have carried them on their shoulders and backs and planted them together. He also designed a "wind-temperature anti-winding device" to protect the safety of island lines, and locals affectionately called him the "Messenger of Light".

Struggle more than just
On the sea near Dachen Island, the giant marine breeding platform "woven" by copper alloy nets is very spectacular.
"In the spirit of reclamation, 'pioneering and innovation' is an important aspect. This super-large copper net breeding is the crystallization of wisdom of Dachen fishermen's continuous exploration and innovation." Fisherman Mao Zhaozheng said that Dachen fishermen have successively explored the three transformation and upgrading paths of shallow water cage breeding, deep water cage breeding, and copper net seaside aquaculture.
Just like the young team members who landed on the island more than 60 years ago, with the implementation of the rural revitalization strategy, more and more young people are coming to the island. Wang Qi, born in the 1980s, is one of them. "Now Dachen Island is more convenient and the environment is cleaner. The overall appearance of Meihuawan Village where my homestay is located is even new, and the 'Banshanju' has become popular."

Among the land reclamators today, there are young township cadres born in the 1980s and 1990s as the main body.
