At this moment this year, under the sweeping of the new crown epidemic, the world is fighting the epidemic, and what people have experienced is no less than a major earthquake. I suddenly remembered that in 2008, two teachers Cui Jiu and Wang Zhenxin from the Taiwan International Medical Science Research Foundation organized a 26-person charity team of Huajing Therapists after the "512" earthquake. The delegation went from Taipei to Sichuan to participate in post-disaster psychological assistance, and summarized the assistance process into an academic report.
So I contacted Teacher Zhenxin, and with her authorization, I allowed me to excerpt and share this academic report on the official account of "Oak Mom and Her Friends". International Medical Science Research Foundation proposed to the Red Cross this time the name of the "Chuan earthquake post-earth reconstruction work service plan" is: "Chuan earthquake therapy" to do emergency treatment and stress-responsive tutoring plan.
Teacher Cui Jiu’s goal is to provide stress relief counseling with electronic technology (information medicine) combined with natural therapy (flower essence), which can easily and accurately achieve the purpose of identifying and dealing with post-traumatic stress syndrome, which is more likely to help achieve what postmodern psychologists emphasize: when rediscovering individual cases, they will generate new powers, cherish themselves, and increase their resilience.
512 The earthquake that occurred can be called a rare natural disaster in human history. To tutor the victims may also be one of the biggest challenges psychology has faced since it was post traumatic disorder (PTSD). According to the DSM-IVC of the American Psychiatry Society (1994), PTSD may occur within three months after the disaster, called the acute stage. If it is postponed to more than three months, it is listed as a chronic stage. There is also a third type of delayed onset, which means that some symptoms defined in the syndrome are delayed until six months before the symptoms begin to develop symptoms: from extreme acute coma, confusion or numbness to extremely chronic depression and withdrawal, there are many... It is extremely time-consuming and laborious to help.
"Flower Essence Therapy" is the closest treatment to modern medicine in traditional European and American medicine, because its founder, Dr. Edward Bach, is an orthodox internal and surgical physician, bacteriology expert and doctor of public health trained by the Royal College of Medicine in the UK. The "flower refinement" in the therapy was selected by him and was manufactured between 1930 and 1946 according to the principle of "same therapy" in traditional European medicine. In the recipe of the original thirty-eight flowers, seven groups of negative emotions can be handled, namely: fear, uncertainty and indecision, escape from reality and lose interest in the current situation, frustration and despair, loneliness, being too sensitive to external influences and other people's thoughts, and being too concerned about other people's well-being.

The teachers observed that due to the different background tasks and the original intention of receiving the training, each had its own extremely interesting characteristics, but the three sets also had great similarities, that is, all the students were very interested and confident in the way of quickly taking effect. Therefore, they all brought back the applicable flower essence formula we gave as if they were treasured. The students carefully filled in the data, and promised to remember the experience and handed over it to the teachers.
This trip is expected to end the formal training course on February 25. Calculated, there are 192 people listening to the class, of which 96 are actually subject to the test, the number of subjects at the Party School is 46, and the number of subjects to the Women's Federation is 16. All of the above are the victims and the person in charge of disaster relief. Only 512 32 people from the civil society organizations are volunteer disaster relief workers.
preliminary statistics found that the "demand of flower essence" is proportional to the severity of the injury and is also absolutely related to gender. Grassroots cadres of party schools and townships are under the greatest pressure, with the most male members. 60.9% of students need flower essence as the first bottle (Post Traumatic Stress Symptom Stabilization Prescription), followed by the second bottle of prescription (sadness-relieving Prescription) accounting for 22%. Only a very small number of students need the third bottle of prescription (slowing fear-relieving Prescription) accounting for 4%, and no one needs the fourth bottle of prescription.
From the experience of this disaster relief, the flower essence measured by the subject can correctly reflect the degree of the person being affected by the disaster and the way he/she adapts to the stress. Because the students of the second group of Women's Federation are all women, and they are also on the front line to rescue disasters, but the results they measured are 43%, but half of them, while those who need the second bottle of prescription account for 31.3%, which may be because women are more able to vent their emotions through words and tears. The third bottle of prescription account for 25%. No one yet needs the fourth bottle of "illumination" and the fifth bottle of "self-healing" prescription that represents a relatively positive emotion. As for the third group of students, they are relatively young and are in Chengdu, which is closer to the severely affected area. Therefore, there are people in the five groups of flowers, but the reasons for "hit" are very different from the first two groups.
February 26 - Beichuan The visit to emergency relief in the severely affected area of Beichuan County

Surprisingly, because the senior leaders who served at the Party School on the first day felt "miraculous" after taking the flower essence formula, they immediately decided to send us to the most severely affected area of "Beichuan County", which was blocked to the outside world. Not only did we witness the urgent need, but we also hoped to demonstrate this method to the highest leaders of the district in person. Therefore, in our uneasy, infinite curiosity and sympathy, we packed a bus at our own expense and went from Chengdu to meet the leaders of the Party School in Mianyang to "Beichuan County". Afterwards, they hope that we can also help a young leader who has fallen into severe "melancholy".
Beichuan is a Qiang autonomous county, affiliated to Mianyang City, the birthplace of Dayu, with a total area of 2,869 square kilometers, a population of 161,107 people, and 17 townships and 278 villages. Cars are on the road among the continuous high mountains. The mountains are in early spring, and they should be green, but that day was so severe under the gray sky. The closer to Beichuan County, the more large and obvious traces of the rushing of the mountain slopes appeared.
This visit made us see how the entire country protected the victims of these "hardly affected areas" and how to actively carry out the "reconstruction" work. We first arrived at the first stop of the control area, the office of the "Beichuan Reconstruction Party Working Committee, Management Committee", and received the pass. The three leaders there were already waiting for us with the accompaniment of Deputy Chairman Luo of Beichuan County, United Front Work Department.
Along the way, we saw broken walls and broken walls appearing on the mountainside road, and we also saw rows of neat "board houses". Many stores were piled with wood and bricks and tiles, and long red strips were hung on the walls: "Thank you for the people of XX City for your assistance to my XX Township." This shows the very implementation of the government's disaster relief policy; a county in the country adopted a severely affected area by a strong province, and a town in the disaster area by a powerful county in the province. Beichuan County was adopted by Shandong Province, so when I walked along the road, I thanked that some famous city names in Shandong Province continued to appear on the cloth strips. But the closer you get to the destination, the more obvious the disaster is. Not only are the walls falling, but there are also piles of rubble ruins everywhere. The mountains surrounding the road have all been deformed. The soil and rock flow are hanging a larger stone waterfall on the originally lush and deep green hill. Its bottom layer is a large piece of rubble, which means that another village has been swallowed by large chunks of soil and rock flow! It is flooded! How many lives that have lived here are silently lying among the gravel... The vastness of the territory and the heavy disasters make these efforts to "reconstruct" seem like stars. The next journey can only be described as "shock", "sourcing" and "compassion".
We followed the highway to the Grand Canyon where Beichuan County is located. The road surface was very narrow, because there were huge rocks with round tables blocking the road. Not far from entering the third gate, a cliff appeared in front of us. Walking to the edge of the cliff, the entire buried county town suddenly appeared under our feet. In fact, since entering the second verification checkpoint, all passengers from other vehicles got off and walked. Although we were allowed to stay in the car, everyone had stopped talking, and the solemn air had touched the tears of many people.

My office is on the third floor of the two-story sunken floor. At that time, I was bounced out and injured my left leg. While we looked ahead, we also glanced at the disaster-stricken families at the corners of our eyes. After worshiping the sky with incense, candles, dark paper and sacrifices, we stared at the front and shed tears silently. Fortunately, the Party School has also prepared two bouquets of memorial flowers for us. We devoutly sent infinite grief and blessings to the more than 10,000 souls at the bottom of the valley, and promised to continue to work hard in the future to help their loved ones get out of their grief.
During the process, the leaders of Beichuan welcomed us for lunch. At the dining table, we also took out our instruments and flower essence prescriptions to serve them and their group. There are five men and two women in total. Not only are they all carrying the heavy responsibility of "disaster relief", but they are also severely affected. The test results were all of them, and there was a demand for the first and second groups of first aid flower essences (attachment). It is worth mentioning that the five people from our visiting group also tested each other during the visit. Unfortunately, all five of us also needed first aid flower essence prescription. All five people also underwent "self-treatment" and "post-test".

The psychological assistance plan in the "Sichuan Li County Post-disaster Reconstruction Plan". They have two representatives, one is Mao Zhiwen, the president of the Hong Kong Disabled People's Love and Mutual Aid Association of the Red Cross Society, who is a disabled person himself, and the other is Mr. Lan Lachun, the consultant of the Mutual Aid Association. During this Sichuan earthquake relief mission, Li County, a severely affected area in Sichuan adopted by Hunan Province, is located on the top of a high mountain. The Loudi group has become one of the important planners in the reconstruction work of the Loudi group here. They believe that the implementation of psychological rescue is increasingly valued by the Party and the government. Compared with the last Tangshan earthquake, the entire disaster relief work of this Wenchuan earthquake has become one of the biggest characteristics...
However, currently, most psychological assistance is still in psychological counseling intervention, and there is still a lack of long-term effective psychological treatment and tracking services, and it has not truly elevated psychological assistance to the height of spiritual home reconstruction. They deeply feel that flower essence therapy will be the most suitable tool, which can relieve the shock and loss after the severe damage, and can gradually help the sadness and depression in the chronic period, overcome the despair, find the ability to heal, and recall the new hope of life. Therefore, they have included our "teacher training" and "relief counseling services" in the three-year plan of the provincial work brigade combined with Sichuan and Hunan provinces. This time they were sent to Sichuan in person to participate in the junior seed teacher folk training course jointly organized by us and the 512 Relief Service Center on February 25, and jointly formulated the next training plan with Mao Zhiwen, president of the Loudi Red Cross Society for Disabled People. They hope that in the three-year plan, they will not only receive training from our teachers, but also set up a work site in Li County, where appropriate talents will be selected from volunteers in Taiwan, and stay in Li County for a long time (one to three months) to coach local trained trainees for a longer period of time, and provide services to the victims.

The research object in the first step of this study is very wide, and the researchers also partially include the principle of "action research". This female cadre hesitated for a long time before sitting in front of Professor Cui Jiu.Through a brief test, Professor Cui selected the "Huabo" that suits her "accurately" and was "forget-me-not".
Professor Cui was also present when he interpreted the "flower language" for her. "Flower Fairy" said: "You are now wandering between relatives in heaven and relatives in the world, and your heart is full of contradictions. You want to start your life again, but you can't forget your love for the person in heaven. In fact, people are a combination of body, mind, and spirit. The matter is immortal and the soul is immortal. Your lost relatives are not eliminated. He has also started another new life in heaven. You used to play a life drama with him, but now his role mission has been completed, but you still have to continue playing until your body leaves the world, goes to heaven to rest, and wait for the next stage performance. So, you don't have to be too sad. Even for your former partner, you must finish your current role well. He will watch you in heaven. Cheer for you.
Is this what Professor Cui Jiu said about the connection between body, mind and spirit? It's amazing! Professor Cui Jiu doesn't know this student, but I know a little about her experience. The "flower language" interpreted by Professor Cui is exactly the same as her life experience, which is surprisingly similar. After the earthquake, her lover was killed. Now she has regrouped her family with another Beichuan man who has the same experience. She gets along well with her new partner in life, but her son, who is studying in college in another place, often calls her and says he misses his father. This has become a knot in her heart that is difficult to dissolve. After Professor Cui told her, although her face is still reserved, her tears are hard to hide.
II. Tester's observation -
Since the flower essence product used in this study is the "first aid series" researched by the North American Flower Essence Society, there is no record of large-scale first aid. Based on the principle of "symptomatic flower essence" assisted by electronic instruments in the subject's own system, the research team completed the test of 96 rescue workers in the Sichuan disaster area and 33 trainees in the training of the Taipei disaster relief teacher seed team. The results are as follows:

The table above shows that except for 921 victims 10 years ago, no one in Taipei test subjects needed "first aid series flower essence", but for other "emotional balance" 30 Group of flower essence still has different needs.
Sichuan disaster relief personnel test results show that those who suffer the most severely but have no way to vent their emotions are also stuck in a state of horror shock. Those who need group A to vent their emotions are sad first, and those who need group B to vent their emotions later are fear and anxiety. Group C needs to be used again, and they may even lead to "inflicted suicide". Group D needs to be used, but at this time, they begin to have a sense of awakening and understanding. If they continue to take it, they will need to use flower essences that need to be used for self-treated flower essences. This observation is of great help to the treatment personnel and the original design of flower essence products.
Conclusion:
Use flower essence therapy as psychological assistance after earthquakes is still an innovation, It is used in the disaster areas of Sichuan, because of the large scale and the distance between service personnel and supply resources, everything is going slowly. This research report only includes the initial exploration part, and the tracking after the case is taken, and is being concentrated.
