In the 13th year of Jian'an (208), Sun Quan and Liu Bei established the Sun-Liu Alliance, and defeated Cao Cao in the Battle of Red Cliff, laying the foundation for the three kingdoms. In the first year of Huangwu (222), Sun Quan was enthroned by Emperor Wen of Wei and Cao Pi and established the State of Wu. In the same year, Liu Bei was defeated in the Battle of Yiling. In the first year of Huanglong (229), he officially became emperor in Wuchang , and his country was named Wu. He moved the capital to Jianye soon. As for Sun Quan, who became emperor, he naturally had to enthrone the crown prince. As for Sun Quan, there are 7 sons in total.

Among these 7 sons, the eldest son Sun Deng can be said to be the most virtuous one. Therefore, after ascending the throne and becoming emperor, Sun Quan naturally appointed his eldest son, Sun Deng as the crown prince. However, it is a pity that Sun Quan's most valued son died young. In the fourth year of Chiwu (241), Sun Deng died at the age of 33 and was posthumously named Prince Xuan. After Sun Deng's death, the fate of Sun Quan's other sons also changed. In the end, three of Sun Quan's seven sons died of illness and four were killed!

The eldest son of Sun Deng: Died from illness in the fourth year of Chiwu (241), Sun Quan's eldest son of Sun Deng died at the age of 33 and was posthumously named Prince Xuan. In this regard, in my opinion, as for Sun Quan's eldest son Sun Deng, it can be compared with Zhu Yuanzhang's eldest son Zhu Biao . Both of them were very capable princes, both loved and valued by their father, and eventually died young and had an important impact on the subsequent historical trend. For example, if Zhu Biao did not die young, the Jingnan Campaign would probably not have occurred in the Ming Dynasty. As for the Eastern Wu during the Three Kingdoms period, if Sun Deng ascended the throne successfully, not only would the national strength of the Eastern Wu be enhanced, but Sun Quan's other sons would probably not have a tragic ending.

Three sons grandson and : Killed

After the second son and eldest son Lu and the eldest son Deng died one after another, the third son and became Sun Quan's de facto eldest son. So, Sun He was appointed as the crown prince by Sun Quan. However, the princess Sun He gradually lost power because he was framed by King Lu Sun Ba and Princess Quan. In the 13th year of Chiwu (250), he was demoted to King Zhang and was renamed King of Nanyang. In the second year of Jianxing (253), rumors were rumored to have been welcomed by the Grand Tutor Zhuge Ke and was sentenced to death. In other words, Sun He can be said to have been killed by Sun Jun, the powerful minister of the Eastern Wu. In the winter of the second year of Jianxing (253), after Sun Jun killed Zhuge Ke, he was promoted to Prime Minister General, thus killing Sun He and other Eastern Wu royal families.

Fourth descendants: After Sun Quan's eldest son Deng died, the fourth descendants and the third descendants started a battle for the throne. Although this battle for the throne was not as fierce as the nine sons of the Qing Dynasty's throne, it still involved many ministers from the Eastern Wu, such as Lu Xun , who was blamed by Sun Quan for this and eventually died of anger. In August of the 13th year of Chiwu (250 AD), Sun Ba was sentenced to death for his attempt to kill Sun He, and his gangsters were also killed. Regarding Sun Quan's four descendants, Chen Shou, author of " Three Kingdoms ", commented: "For the charity to be a legitimate, he will not follow the rules, and he will definitely take the way of danger and death." That is, the ending of Sun Ba's murder is self-defeating and not worthy of sympathy.

Five descendants: Killed

Sun Fen, as the son of Sun Quan, was first granted the title of King of Qi. He was deposed as a commoner for killing officials from the state without permission and was later renamed the Marquis of Zhang'an. In the second year of Jianheng (270), it was said that Sun Fen and Shangyu Marquis Sun Feng would definitely become emperor, which made the emperor in power at that time very angry. So, Sun Hao killed Sun Fen and his five sons and canceled his title. For Sun Fen, there was no rebellion, and the result of the whole family being killed by Sun Hao, which can be said to be sympathetic.

6 sons Sun Xiu : Died of illness

In the history of the Wu Kingdom, Sun Xiu was the third emperor, and as for the second emperor, it was Sun Quan's seven sons Sun Liang . On September 26, the third year of Taiping (258), Sun Jing launched a mutiny, deposed Sun Liang as King of Kuaiji, and made Sun Xiu the emperor. Sun Xiu was given three resignations and changed his reign to Yong'an.For the powerful minister Sun Chen, he hopes to continue to take charge of the power of the Eastern Wu. However, what he did not expect was that Sun Xiu was not Liu Xie, Emperor Xian of Han. After ascending the throne and becoming emperor, Sun Xiu and Zhang Puding conspired to eliminate Sun Jing.

To a certain extent, if the powerful minister Sun Jing was not removed, the Eastern Wu would probably have been controlled by the powerful ministers like the Eastern Han Dynasty in the last years, and the monarch gradually became a puppet emperor like Emperor Xian of Han. Therefore, among the successive emperors of the Eastern Wu, Sun Xiu was quite capable. In the view of many historians, during Sun Xiu's reign, he promulgated good systems to benefit the people and promoted the prosperity of the Eastern Wu, which became one of the last reasons why the Eastern Wu could become the last demise of the Three Kingdoms of Wei, Shu and Wu.

Seven Descendants Sun Liang: Killed

Sun Liang is Sun Quan's youngest son, but because of his extraordinary intelligence, he is loved by Sun Quan. In the first year of Jianxing (252), ten-year-old Sun Liang officially ascended the throne. However, in 258 AD, Sun Liang was deposed as King of Kuaiji by the powerful minister Sun Jing and lost the throne. In the third year of Yong'an (260), Sun Liang was demoted to Houguanhou and was forced to commit suicide on his way to his fief (some say he was poisoned) at the age of 18. As a result, whether it was forced to commit suicide or poisoning, this was not a good ending for Sun Liang. In summary, as for Sun Quan’s seven sons, the fate has changed due to the premature death of his eldest son Sun Deng. In my opinion, if Sun Deng could ascend the throne successfully, the other brothers as kings would not need to be involved in the throne of Emperor Dongwu, and naturally they would not have ended up with a tragic ending. What do you think about this?
