Bank wealth management products have entered a new stage of development after completing the comprehensive net value transformation. According to public information, the reporter of Securities Daily has sorted out that since this year, bank wealth management subsidiaries have been very active in launching innovative theme wealth management products, with themes involving " green finance ", "dual carbon", "ESG", "old pension", "epidemic prevention and control", "rural revitalization", " specialized and new ", etc.

, senior analyst of the financial industry of iResearch Analysis, Su Xiaorui, told the Securities Daily reporter that bank wealth management subsidiaries are focusing on the layout of innovative theme products, which is not only in line with the current market environment, but also in the exploration and innovation of the diversification of wealth management business, laying the foundation for further meeting market demand, attracting customers, and creating high-quality wealth management products.

For example, China Wealth Management Network data shows that under the background of green finance and "dual carbon", as of October 13, there were 91 ESG theme wealth management products on sale and surviving on the market, and the issuing institutions include Agricultural Bank of China Wealth Management, Huaxia Wealth Management , Xingyin Wealth Management, Standard Chartered Bank and Citibank , etc. In terms of product types, fixed income accounts for 57%; among the other products, except for one equity product, all are mixed products. The performance benchmarks of these products are mostly between 3.5% and 4.5%.

In the context of vigorously developing the elderly care industry in China, there are currently 48 elderly care theme wealth management products issued on the market, including pilot institutions such as ICBC Wealth Management, China Construction Bank Wealth Management, China Post Wealth Management, Bank of Communications Wealth Management, BlackRock China Construction Bank Wealth Management, China Merchants Bank Wealth Management, and Everbright Wealth Management. In terms of product types, fixed income accounts for the majority, accounting for 75%; the rest are mixed products, and there are currently no equity pension and financial products. The performance benchmarks of these products are mostly between 5.8% and 7.5%.

In addition, banking institutions have followed the national strategy and laid out many related thematic financial products. For example, the reporter noticed that there are currently 55 rural revitalization products on the market; 25 "specialized, specialized and new" theme financial management products; 10 interbank certificates of deposit theme financial management products; and 1 small and micro enterprise theme financial management product.

CICC research report analyzed that the number of typical innovative wealth management products is growing rapidly and has become the dominant direction for product creation of wealth management subsidiaries. From the perspective of typical innovative financial products, the cumulative number of bank wealth management products with "specialized, specialized and innovative" themes, ESG themes, pension themes and the shortest holding periods is showing an upward trend. Elderly financial products, ESG themed products and "specialized, specialized and innovative" products are new financial products promoted in 2022, with great potential for future growth.

Regarding the reasons why bank wealth management subsidiaries are working hard to deploy innovative theme products, Yang Haiping, a researcher at the Securities and Futures Institute of Central University of Finance and Economics and general manager of the Research and Development Department of Inner Mongolia Bank, said in an interview with a reporter from Securities Daily that commercial banks are currently launching innovative theme wealth management products. First, it is based on the consideration of the market positioning and development strategies of the entire bank and the wealth management business sector, and highlights brand planning. The second is to focus on customer segmentation and deeply explore customers, and highlight marketing goals. Overall, innovative theme financial products can provide an attractive and targeted "risk-return" combination, with high brand recognition and strong customer attractiveness, and play a good supporting role in the development strategy of the Bank and the financial sector.

However, domestic innovative wealth management products are still in their infancy, and bank wealth management subsidiaries are also facing some challenges. Su Xiaorui analyzed that creating innovative wealth management products is one of the core competitiveness of banking institutions and an important link to attract bank customers. In the future, bank wealth management subsidiaries can deepen the following aspects: First, in terms of products, banks need to strengthen product design and win favor through the creation of special products and high-quality user experience; secondly, in terms of channels, banks should explore more accurate marketing and publicity methods and sales channels on the premise of complying with compliance requirements to expand their popularity; in addition, in terms of investment and research, investment and research should continuously strengthen investment and research level, create value for customers through long-term high-quality returns, and thus win reputation; banks can also strengthen customer operations through investor education and other work to enhance customer stickiness.
