Recently, the list of winners of the fourth " Science Exploration Award " was announced. 50 young scientists were on the list. Shenxian No. 1 Middle School alumnus Shenxian No. 1 Middle School professor Ma Siwei won the information electronics award for his outstanding contributions.
Introduction to the Science Exploration Award
"Scientific Exploration Award" was initiated by Tencent Foundation Ma Huateng , and Peking University professor Rao Yi , and 14 well-known scientists including Yang Zhenning , Shi Yigong , Xie Xiaoliang , Pan Jianwei and 14 well-known scientists, jointly initiated and established on November 9, 2018. As a public welfare award led by scientists, the "Science Exploration Award" adheres to the purpose of "facing the future, rewarding potential, and encouraging exploration" and encourages young scientific and technological workers to explore the "no man's land" of science without distraction. The award is aimed at ten fields of basic science and cutting-edge technology. No more than 50 winners are selected each year. Each winner will receive a total of RMB 3 million in 5 years. It is currently one of the highest funding programs for young science and technology talents in China.

Professor Ma Siwei was born in 1979 and graduated from Shenxian No. 1 Middle School in 1995. He is a 32-level alumnus of Xin County No. 1 Middle School. He graduated from Shenxian Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2005. He conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Southern California from August 2005 to August 2007, and then worked at Peking University.
was funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China Youth Project in 2013 and was selected as the second batch of youth top talent programs of the Central Organization Department in 2015. The main research directions are video encoding and processing. More than 40 SCI papers have been published, 2 monographs have been published in cooperation, and more than 440 invention patents have been authorized. The organization has formulated the new generation of AVS3 video encoding standards, and the developed AVS2/AVS3 ultra-high-definition codec supports the launch of CCTV-4K/CCTV-8K ultra-high-definition channel, and won the first prize of in 2020 National Technology Invention Award. He has undertaken many national projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation's , 863 plan, and scientific and technological support. The National Natural Science Foundation of China released the list of applicants for the proposed funding project of the National "Outstanding Youth" Science Foundation of China in 2020. There are 300 new "Outstanding Youth" in the country, from 124 universities or research institutes, and Professor Ma Siwei of Peking University is among them.
