Recently, Swedish fuel cell manufacturer PowerCell signed a contract for marine megawatt fuel cell system with a mainstream European shipyard. The total contract value is approximately 6.9 million euros, and the system will be developed and delivered within three years.

information shows that PowerCell was established in 2008 and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the well-known automobile brand Volvo Group. It mainly engages in the development and manufacturing of fuel cell stacks and systems for fixed and mobile applications. The fuel cell stack system developed by the company is compact and modular, and can be customized and adjusted according to customer needs. It has high competitiveness in the current fuel cell vehicle market.

It is understood that Volvo began to study fuel cell technology as early as 1993, and this research led to the establishment of PowerCell in 2008. In October 2019, PowerCell established a wholly-owned subsidiary Baosheng Fuel Cell (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. in China.

In fact, PowerCell's fuel cell business has made a series of progress since the beginning of this year.

In addition to expanding into the Chinese market, PowerCell also aims at Japan, where Toyota occupies the main position in fuel cells.

In February this year, PowerCell and Japan Inahata Industrial Co., Ltd. signed an exclusive sales agency agreement, which allowed the latter to obtain an exclusive license to promote and sell PowerCell fuel cell stacks and fuel cell systems in the Japanese market (except for the new generation of fuel cell stacks PowerCell S3).
