It is understood that Volvo began to study fuel cell technology as early as 1993, and this research led to the establishment of PowerCell in 2008. In October 2019, PowerCell established a wholly-owned subsidiary Baosheng Fuel Cell (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. in China.
